Building Official(FLS,4 Exempt): <br /> In addition to duties listed above for the Senior Building Inspector: <br /> • Supervises Building Technician. <br /> • Plan checks building plans and verifies conformance with all applicable codes; computes <br /> fees. <br /> • Reviews and recommends code changes and updates as appropriate for adoption by City <br /> Council. <br /> • Attends state sponsored meetings concerning new mandated codes dealing with energy and <br /> construction methods. <br /> • Prepare Staff Reports and Division Strategies for budget development <br /> • Assists with development of annual Building Department Budget. <br /> Abilities: <br /> Building Inspector and Senior Building Inspector: <br /> • Extensive familiarity with adopted California Building Code; and ability to apply <br /> knowledge in field and with plan checks. <br /> • Ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions, <br /> including the ability to accurately interpret and administer applicable codes and policies. <br /> • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully, both verbally and in writing. <br /> • Ability to interact extensively with the public, in the field, at the counter, and on the <br /> telephone. <br /> • Ability to operate independently in conducting field inspections, and to spend up to 80% <br /> of work hours at project sites, generally in a standing position. <br /> • Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and <br /> responsibilities which may include walking or standing for extended periods of time, lifting <br /> up to 25 pounds, climbing ladders, operating assigned equipment and vehicles, and sustain <br /> exposure to noise, dust, and other potential outdoor hazards. <br /> • General knowledge.of municipal code and planning and engineering requirements as they <br /> would apply to the built environment. <br /> • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, Town <br /> officials, and the general public. <br /> • Ability to operate a personal computer, including word processing and database software, <br /> and other office equipment, including copy and fax machines and telephone equipment. <br /> • Perform related duties as assigned. <br /> BUILDING INSPECTOR/ <br /> SENIOR BUILDING INSPECTOR/ <br /> BUILDING OFFICIAL 2 Rev.02/2017 <br /> (Position Description,cont.)
