9 <br /> ORDINANCE 570 <br /> ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE.TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS <br /> AMENDING SECTION 2-1.201 OF TITLE 2, CHAPTER 1, ARTICLE 2 OF THE <br /> MUNICIPAL CODE, "COUNCILMEMBER SALARIES" <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that California Government Code Section <br /> 36516(a) (1) provides that a city council may enact an ordinance providing that each member of <br /> the city council shall receive a salary based on the population of the city; and <br /> WHEREAS, Since January 1, 2010, Paragraph (2)(A) of this same code section allows that <br /> councilmember salaries for cities up to and including 35,000 in population, may be up to and <br /> including three hundred dollars ($300) per month; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Town ordinance section 2-1.201 which sets City Councilmember salaries was <br /> last amended in 1992; and <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, The City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills does ORDAIN as <br /> follows: <br /> Section 1. AMENDMENTS <br /> Section 2-1.201 ("COUNCILMEMBER SALARIES") of Title 2, Chapter 1 <br /> ("CITY COUNCIL") of the Los Altos Hills Municipal Code is hereby amended to <br /> read as follows: <br /> 2-1.201 Councilmember salaries. <br /> Each member of the City Council shall receive, as salary, three hundred <br /> dollars ($300.00)per month. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills does hereby further <br /> ORDAIN as follows: <br /> Section 2. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance or the application thereof to any <br /> person or circumstance is held invalid or unconstitutional, the remainder of this ordinance, <br /> including the application of such part or provision to other persons or circumstances shall not be <br /> affected thereby and shall continue in full force and effect.To this end,provisions of this ordinance <br /> are severable. The City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills hereby declares that it would have <br /> passed each section, subsection, subdivision, paragraph, sentence, clause, or phrase hereof <br /> irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, subdivisions, paragraphs, <br /> sentences, clauses, or phrases be held unconstitutional, invalid, or unenforceable. <br /> Section 3. Effective Date; Publication. This ordinance shall take effect thirty(30) days after <br /> adoption. Within fifteen days after the passage of this ordinance the City Clerk shall cause this <br /> ordinance or a summary thereof to be published once, with the names of those City <br /> Councilmembers voting for or against it in a newspaper of general circulation in the Town of Los <br /> Altos Hills, as required by law. <br /> Ordinance 570 Page 1 <br />
