ORDINANCE NO. 416 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF.THE <br /> TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS AMENDING CHAPTER 5 [FLOOD DAMAGE <br /> PROTECTION] OF TITLE 7 [PUBLIC WORKS] OF THE LOS ALTOS HILLS <br /> MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING FLOOD DAMAGE PREVENTION <br /> WHEREAS,the Town's current floodplain management ordinance is outdated; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Town's floodplain management ordinance should conform to <br /> federal regulations regarding floodplain management so that the Town can participate in <br /> the nationwide flood insurance program. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills does ORDAIN <br /> as follows: <br /> 1. AMENDMENT OF CODE.. Chapter 5 [Flood Damage Protection] of Title 7 <br /> (Public Works]of the Los Altos Hills Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> CHAPTERS. FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT <br /> Sec. 7-5.01 Statutory Authorization, Findings of.Fact, Purpose and <br /> Methods. <br /> Sec. 7-5.01.1 Statutory Authorization. The Legislature of the State of <br /> California has in Government Code Sections 65302, 65560, -and 65.800 <br /> conferred upon. local government units authority to -adopt regulations <br /> designed to promote the public health,safety,- and general welfare of its <br /> citizenry. Therefore, the Town of Los Altos Hills does hereby adopt the <br /> following floodplain management regulations. <br /> Sec. 7-6.01:2 Findings of Fact. <br /> A. The flood hazard areas of the Town of Los Altos Hills are. <br /> subject to periodic innundation which results in loss of-life- <br /> and property, health and safety, hazards; disruption of <br /> commerce and governmental services,extraordinary public. <br /> expenditures forflood protection and relief,and impairment'. <br /> of the tax base, all of which adversely affect the public <br /> health, safety, and general welfare. <br /> B.
