ORDINANCE NO. 362 <br /> AN URGENCY ORDINANCE OF <br /> THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS <br /> AMENDING TITLE 11 REGARDING LANDMARK PRESERVATION <br /> WHEREAS, the Town is now considering designating several <br /> historical properties as .landmarks; and <br /> WHEREAS, Title 11 regarding landmark designation and <br /> preservation is unclear in certain respects; and . <br /> WHEREAS, the provisions of this ordinance need to go into <br /> effect immediately to protect the public health, safety and <br /> welfare so that landmarks will be adequately preserved; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the Town of Los Altos <br /> Hills does ORDAIN as follows: <br /> SECTION 1. AMENDMENT OF CODE. Section 11-1.09 of Title 11 <br /> (Landmark Designation and Preservation) of the Los Altos Hills <br /> Municipal Code is hereby amended to read: <br /> 11-1. 09. No person shall carry out or cause to be <br /> carried out on a designated landmark any material <br /> change in exterior. appearance through alteration, <br /> construction, relocation, exterior painting or <br /> demolition, without obtaining a landmark alteration <br /> permit from the City Council. <br /> SECTION 2. AMENDMENT OF CODE. Section 11-1. 16 of Title 11 <br /> (Landmark Designation and Preservation) of the Los Altos Hills <br /> Municipal Code is hereby amended to read: <br /> 11-1. 16. Without excluding any penalty for <br /> violation of the Municipal Code, any material change <br /> made by any person in the exterior appearance of any <br /> designated landmark through alteration, construction, <br /> exterior painting or demolition without the issuance of <br /> a landmark alteration permit having first been obtained <br /> shall be, and is hereby declared to be unlawful and a <br /> public nuisance, and shall be abated in the method <br /> provided for in Section 9-5. 1106 of this Municipal <br /> Code. <br /> SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY. If any part of this ordinance is <br /> held to be invalid or inapplicable to any situation by a court of <br /> competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the <br /> validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance or the <br /> applicability of' this ordinance to other situations. <br /> SECTION 4. FINDING; EFFECTIVE DATE. The City Council finds <br /> that there is a current and immediate threat to the public <br />
