ORDINANCE NO. 365 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF <br /> THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS <br /> REQUIRING GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE <br /> CONSOLIDATED WITH STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION <br /> WHEREAS, the statewide direct primary election, with which <br /> the Town's general municipal .election is currently consolidated, <br /> will be changed, beginning in 1996, from June to March of even-. <br /> numbered years; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Town wishes to consolidate its general <br /> municipal election with the statewide general election in order <br /> to save the Town money and assure a higher voter turnout; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE; the City Council of the Town of Los Altos- <br /> Hills does ORDAIN as follows: <br /> Section 1. . Pursuant to California Government Code Section <br /> 36503 . 5 (a) (1) , the Town' s general municipal election shall be <br /> held on the same day and consolidated with the statewide general <br /> election, beginning November 8, 1994. <br /> Section 2 . Pursuant to California Government Code Section <br /> 36503 .5 (b) , the City Council finds that as a result of the <br /> adoption of this ordinance, no term of office shall be increased <br /> or decreased by more than 12 months. <br /> Section 3.. Pursuant to California Government Code Section <br /> 36503 . 5 (d) , those city officers whose terms of office would have <br /> expired in June of 1994, shall, instead, continue in their <br /> offices until no later than the fourth Tuesday after the day of <br /> the general municipal election, which in 1994 is on November 8, <br /> and until their successors are elected and qualified. <br /> Section 4 . The City. Clerk is hereby directed (i) to request <br /> the Santa Clara County ("County") Registrar of Voters to have the <br /> Board of Supervisors adopt a resolution approving this <br /> consolidation request and (ii) to cause a notice to be mailed to <br /> all registered voters informing the voters of the change in the <br /> election date, within thirty days after this ordinance becomes <br /> operative. <br /> Section 5. Effective Date; Posting. This ordinance shall <br /> become effective thirty (30) days from the date of its passage, <br /> provided that it shall not become operative until approved by the <br />
