CALL TO ORDER,ROLL CALL, AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br /> Present: Mayor Mike O'Malley, Mayor Pro Tem Breene Kerr, Councilmember <br /> Craig A. T. Jones, Councilmember Jean Mordo and Councilmember Dean <br /> Warshawsky <br /> Absent: None <br /> Staff: City Manager Maureen Cassingham, City Attorney Steve Mattas, Planning <br /> Director Carl Cahill, Administrative Services Director Sarah Joiner, Parks <br /> and Recreation Supervisor Jimmy Forbis and City Clerk Karen Jost <br /> MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Warshawsky, seconded by Kerr <br /> and passed unanimously to limit the length of time for public comments to three minutes. <br /> 2. APPOINTMENTS AND PRESENTATIONS <br /> 2.1 Presentation of Silicon Valley Reads Program and Proclamation Request, <br /> Melinda Cervantes, Santa Clara County Librarian <br /> Melinda Cervantes, Santa Clara County Librarian, thanked the Council for the <br /> opportunity to introduce to the Los Altos Hills' community the Silicon Valley Reads <br /> Program and this year's book; "Epitaph for a Peach: Four Seasons on My Family Farm" <br /> by David Mas Masumoto. Cervantes presented a brief overview of the program and book <br /> citing the book's similarities to Santa Clara Valley's historical roots as an agricultural <br /> community. She distributed a pamphlet with a calendar of events and author David Mas <br /> Masumoto's personal appearance schedule.. <br /> Council thanked Cervantes for her presentation. <br /> MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Warshawsky, seconded by Kerr and <br /> passed unanimously to approve the Proclamation declaring February 2005 Silicon Valley <br /> Reads Month In Los Altos Hills. <br /> 3. PLANNING COMMISSION REPORT <br /> Planning Director Carl Cahill reported that the Planning Commission at their January 27, <br /> 2005 meeting had considered five public hearing items. They included: Lands of Los <br /> Altos Hills, a review and amendment to the Conditional Use Permit for Westwind Barn <br /> that would permit additional horses and ease a restriction on,a their replanting plan; <br /> 1 <br /> City Council Meeting Minutes <br /> February 3,2005 <br />
