• • <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 13 A <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS SUPPORTING THE <br /> PROMOTION OF HEALTH AWARENESS <br /> WHEREAS, California is experiencing an epidemic of overweight, obesity, <br /> and diabetes costing the State and County of Santa Clara financially and causing <br /> suffering, illness, and death for many Californians; and <br /> WHEREAS, leaders in all branches of government have recognized these <br /> problems and through an inclusive commitment can lead the state toward increased <br /> physical activity and improved nutrition and wellness; and <br /> WHEREAS, data on overweight, obesity, and diabetes for Santa Clara County <br /> substantiates the need for action and the Town of Los Altos Hills has opportunities to <br /> positively affect the health of its residents through the creation and sustainability of green <br /> spaces including its many bicycle, equestrian and pedestrian pathways and the promotion <br /> of programs related to recreational activities for its residents and implementing policy <br /> development and programs related to employee health. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the <br /> Town of Los Altos Hills,that the City Council encourages the promotion of health <br /> awareness by all branches and levels of government, collaborative action by interested <br /> communities, initiatives and policy by school boards, development of workplace health <br /> and wellness policy and practice, and access to recreation and physical activity for all <br /> residents; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the Town of Los <br /> Altos Hills does recognize that we are empowered to act as a role model for fitness, <br /> physical activity,nutrition and wellness to the residents and employees of our Town. <br /> Regularly passed and adopted this 9th day of Marc 006 <br /> By: <br /> ayor <br /> ATT ST <br /> " <br /> City Clerk 411, <br />
