Environmental Initiatives Committee Regular Meeting Minutes DATE: Thursday, January 8, 2015 TIME: 7:00 PM LOCATION: Parks & Recreation Building, 26379 Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills 1. Roll Call The meeting was called to order with quorum present at 7:15 P.M. Attendees: April Anair, Peter Evans (vice chair), Raj Reddy, Serena Giori (chair), John Harpotlian (Council Liaison). Associate member and member of the public in attendance were Kit Gordon and Scott Schmidt. 2. Approval of Minutes. Postponed to the next meeting. The recommendation by Peter Evans to attach the minutes to the agenda when it is distributed by email to simplify the review ahead of the meeting is forwarded. 3. Discussion of Energy and Water Initiatives for LAH. a. Sustainability in the General Plan. Discussion on the sustainability element and its integration with the 2015 EIC goals and initiatives. Peter Evans inquired on the status of the recommendation forwarded by him to the Town on updating the Fast Track process to improve sustainability. EIC allocated substantial time last year to improve the Fast Track process by including sustainability. c. Initiatives with Portola Valley and Other Neighboring Communities. Steve Schmidt’s recommendation to meet with Portola Valley’s Sustainability Manager Brandi de Garmeaux had unanimous approval and will be scheduled before the next meeting. Kit Gordon recommended to inquire with Brandi on a new event sponsored around the sustainability theme by Portola Valley and Woodside in late March and to consider participating. Serena will follow up on both recommendations and report at the next meeting. b. Update on the new seminar. The new seminar will be offered in cooperation with Cal Water and Purissima Hills Water District on March 12, 2015. Details will be discussed at the next meeting. John Harpotlian had concerns about including grey water in the agenda. It will not be on the agenda of the seminar. Motion by Peter Evans to cancel the EIC Regular Meeting of March 12, 2015, seconded by Raj Reddy passed unanimously. Motion by Raj Reddy to schedule a special EIC Meeting on March 29, 2015, seconded by Peter Evans passed unanimously.
