RESOLUTION 17-20 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS ORDERING AND CALLING FOR THE HOLDING OF <br />A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, <br />2020, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS AS REQUIRED BY THE <br />PROVISIONS OF THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA RELATING TO <br />GENERAL LAW CITIES; REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE <br />COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA CONSOLIDATE SAID MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br />PURSUANT TO SECTION 10403 OF THE ELECTIONS CODE; PROVIDING FOR <br />NOTICE OF THE ELECTION; AND ADOPTING UNIFORM POLICIES PERTAINING <br />TO CANDIDATE STATEMENTS AND FEES <br />WHEREAS, under the provisions of the laws relating to general law cities in the State of <br />California, a General Municipal Election shall be held on November 3, 2020, for the election of <br />municipal officers; and <br />WHEREAS, the term of three (3) members of the Town of Los Altos Hills ("Town") City Council <br />are due to expire in November 2020 and the positions must be filled; and <br />WHEREAS, it is desirable that the general municipal election be consolidated with the statewide <br />general election to be held on the same date and that within the city the precincts, polling places <br />and election officers of the two elections be the same, and that the county election department with <br />the County of Santa Clara canvass the returns of the general municipal election and that the election <br />be held in all respect as if there were only one election; <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 10403 of the California Elections Code, in order to consolidate <br />a local election with the statewide election, the Town must adopt a resolution requesting that the <br />Board of Supervisors consolidate the Town General Municipal Election be consolidated with the <br />statewide election; and <br />WHEREAS, the consolidated election will be held and conducted in the manner prescribed in <br />California Elections Code Section 10418; and <br />WHEREAS, Elections Code Section 10002 requires the Town to reimburse the County in full for <br />the services performed upon presentation of a bill to the Town by the County Elections Official; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Section 12109 of the California Elections Code provides that the elections official <br />conducting the election shall give notice of the designation of a central counting place for the voted <br />ballots of the Town General Municipal Election. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS <br />DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br />Resolution 17-20 Page 1 <br />
