TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS July 20, 2006 <br /> Staff Report to the Planning Commission <br /> RE: T-MOBILE USA REQUESTS A SITE DEVELOPMENT PERMIT AND <br /> CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR A WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS <br /> FACILITY TO BE COLLOCATED ON THE APPROVED 65 FOOT TALL <br /> (VERIZON WIRELESS) MONOPINE AT THE WESTWIND BARN SITE; <br /> LANDS OF LOS ALTOS BHJS; 27210 ALTAMONT ROAD; FILE# 121-06- <br /> ZP-SD-CUP. <br /> FROM: Brian Froelich,Assistant Planner <br /> APPROVED BY: Debbie Pedro,Planning Director <br /> RECOMMENDATION: That the Planning Commission: <br /> Forward a recommendation that the City Council approve the requested Site <br /> Development Permit and Conditional Use Permit, subject to the recommended conditions <br /> and findings of approval in Attachments 1 and 2. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The site is a Town owned 14.96-acre property located at 27210 Altamont Road. <br /> Currently, the primary use onsite is the Westwind Barn commercial stable that has been <br /> operating under a Conditional Use Permit since 1977. The property is located <br /> immediately to the west of the 50.25 acre Byrne Preserve. Existing structures on the <br /> property include the barn, paddocks, corrals, and riding arenas. Surrounding uses include <br /> single-family residences to the west, south, and north, and the Byrne Preserve to the east. <br /> On October 13, 2005, the Planning Commission voted 5-0 forwarding a recommendation <br /> of approval for a wireless communication facility that includes a 65 foot tall Verizon <br /> Wireless pole, antennas, and ground equipment at the West Wind Barn site. The City <br /> Council then voted 3-0 to approve a monopine, antennas, and ground equipment at the <br /> regular meeting of November 3, 2005. The approved monopine and ground equipment <br /> enclosure are designed to accommodate collocation with one additional carrier. <br /> Verizon Wireless has entered into a lease agreement with the Town and has reported that <br /> structural design plans will be submitted to the Town's Building Department for review <br /> by the end of July 2006. Verizon Wireless' planning approvals and entitlements will <br /> expire in November 2006 if a Building Permit has not been issued. T-Mobile and Verizon <br /> Wireless are currently in lease negotiations for this collocation. <br /> PROJECT SUMMARY <br /> T-Mobile USA has submitted plans to collocate on the approved 65 foot tall Verizon <br /> Wireless monopine and install ground equipment in the approved cabinet enclosure. <br />
