7. That the City Cleric is hereby authorized and directed to publish a Notice of General <br />Municipal Election within the time and manner specified in Section 12101 of the California <br />Elections Code. <br />8. That in all particulars not recited in this Resolution, the election shall be held and conducted <br />as provided by law for holding municipal elections. <br />9. Pursuant to Sections 10228 and 13307 of the California Elections Code, the City Council <br />approves and adopts the following uniform policies and procedures concerning the General <br />Municipal Election to be held on November 8, 2022: <br />a) Each candidate for elective office to be voted for at an election to be held in the <br />Town of Los Altos Hills on November 8, 2022 may prepare a candidate statement <br />on an appropriate form provided by the City Cleric. The statement may include the <br />name, age and occupation of the candidate and brief description of no more than <br />200 words of the candidate's education and qualifications expressed by the <br />candidate himself or herself. <br />b) The statement shall not include party affiliation of the candidate, nor membership <br />or activity in partisan political organizations. <br />C) The statement shall be filed in typewritten form in the office of the City Cleric at <br />the time the candidate's nomination papers are filed. The statement may be <br />withdrawn, but not changed, during the period of filing nomination papers and until <br />5:00 p.m. on the next working day after the close of the nomination period. <br />d) Candidates shall be exempt from charges for the cost of translations mandated by <br />the Federal Voting Rights Act and the preparation and mailing of said Candidate's <br />Statements. <br />C) Candidates shall be exempt from payment of any filing fee. <br />f) That in the event of a tie vote (if any two or more persons receive an equal and the <br />highest number of votes for an office) as certified by the Santa Clara County <br />Registrar of Voters office, the City Council, in accordance with Elections Code <br />Section 15651(a), shall set a date and time and place and summon the candidates <br />who have received the tie votes to appear and will determine the tie by lot. <br />g) Pursuant to the Federal Voting Rights Act, candidates' statements will be translated <br />into all languages required by the County of Santa Clara. The County is required <br />to translate candidate statements into the following languages: English, Chinese, <br />Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese. <br />The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council of the Town of <br />Los Altos Hills at a special meeting held on the 25th day of May 2022 by the following vote: <br />Resolution 49-22 Page 3 <br />
