RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT
PAYMENT TO THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY OFFICE OF THE
SHERIFF FOR ADDITIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES
RECEIVED DURING FY 21-22 TOTALING $32,197
WHEREAS, on July 1, 2014 the Town of Los Altos Hills entered into an agreement with the
Santa Clara County Office of the Sheriff for law enforcement services; and
WHEREAS, in the first few months of 2022, the Town of Los Altos Hills has experienced an
uptick in residential burglaries as compared to previous years; and
WHEREAS, in response to an uptick of crime in Town, the City Council authorized the City
Manager to execute an agreement with Flock Safety for up to 40 Automatic License Plate Reader
(ALPR) cameras in Town; and
WHEREAS, at the end of each fiscal year, the Office of the Sheriff conducts a reconciliation of
the law enforcement services dispensed to the Town; and
WHEREAS, in most years, the Town does not end up using all of the anticipated law enforcement
hours allocated for each fiscal year and is issued a check from the Office of the Sheriff for the
amount that is left over. However, the reconciliation of the services provided in FY 2021-22 shows
that the Town used more than what was anticipated. This resulted in the Town receiving an invoice
for $32,197; and
WHEREAS, the increase in law enforcement service in the Town during FY 2022-21 can be
explained by the increase of crime in Los Altos Hills and the use of the ALPR system to research
those crimes.
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills hereby authorizing the
City Manager to submit payment to the Santa Clara County Office of the Sheriff for additional law
enforcement services received during FY 21-22 totaling $32,197 from the FY 21-22 unreserved
general fund.
