5I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMIVIISSION OF THE <br /> TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS <br /> SUPPORTING THE LOS ALTOS HILLS TOWN COUNCIL <br /> RESOLUTION 42-06 <br /> PETITIONING THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY COMMITTEE <br /> ON SCHOOL DISTRICT REORGANIZATION <br /> WHEREAS, public education is a vital element of any town; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Town of Los Altos Hills once had four public schools; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Town of Los Altos Hills is now the only town on the Peninsula <br /> without a single public school; <br /> WHEREAS, the Town's General Plan emphasizes the need for institutional <br /> facilities, such as elementary schools,to serve the educational needs of local residents. <br /> WHEREAS, the reorganization resolution passed by the Town Council does not <br /> provide that any Gunn High School student or any student expecting to attend Gunn High <br /> School will lose that privilege due to the Town Council resolution. <br /> WHEREAS, the Los Altos Hills Planning Commission has previously ruled on <br /> planning issues at the Bullis-Purissima school site and the Pinewood school site which <br /> would have been positively impacted by the Town Council's current resolution had it <br /> been in effect and accepted at the time of the Planning Commission's action; <br /> WHEREAS, planning issues such as these are a central concern of the Los Altos <br /> Hills Planning Commission; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Planning Commission of <br /> the Town of Los Altos Hills supports the Town Council's resolution 42-06 to the Santa <br /> Clara Committee on School District Reorganization. <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED this 7t'day of September, 2006. <br /> By <br /> Planning Commission Chair <br /> City Clerk <br />
