10. That the City Manager is authorized and directed to compensate Santa Clara County for the cost <br />of conducting the General Municipal Election for the Town. <br />11. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to publish a Notice of General Municipal <br />Election within the time and manner specified in Section 12101 of the California Elections Code. <br />12. That in all particulars not recited in this resolution, the election shall be held and conducted as <br />provided by law for holding municipal elections. <br />13. Pursuant to Sections 10228 and 13307 of the California Elections Code, the City Council approves <br />and adopts the following uniform policies and procedures concerning the General Municipal <br />Election to be held on November 5, 2024: <br />a) Each candidate for elective office to be voted for at an election to be held in the Town of <br />Los Altos Hills on November 5, 2024, may prepare a candidate statement on an appropriate <br />form provided by the City Cleric. The statement may include the name, age and occupation <br />of the candidate and brief description of no more than 200 words of the candidate's <br />education and qualifications expressed by the candidate himself or herself. <br />b) The statement shall not include party affiliation of the candidate, nor membership or <br />activity in partisan political organizations. <br />C) The statement shall be filed in typewritten form in the office of the City Cleric at the time <br />the candidate's nomination papers are filed. The statement may be withdrawn, but not <br />changed, during the period of filing nomination papers and until 5:00 p.m. on the next <br />working day after the close of the nomination period. <br />d) Candidates shall be exempt from charges for the cost of translations mandated by the <br />Federal Voting Rights Act and the preparation and mailing of said Candidate's Statements. <br />e) Candidates shall be exempt from payment of any filing fee. <br />f) That in the event of a tie vote (if any two or more persons receive an equal and the highest <br />number of votes for an office) as certified by the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters <br />office, the City Council, in accordance with Election Code Section 15651(a), shall set a <br />date and time and place and summon the candidates who have received the tie votes to <br />appear and will determine the tie by lot. <br />g) Pursuant to the Federal Voting Rights Act, candidates' statements will be translated into <br />all languages required by the County of Santa Clara. The County is required to translate <br />candidate statements into the following languages: English, Chinese, Spanish, Tagalog, <br />and Vietnamese. <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills, State of California, this <br />20th day of June, 2024, by the following vote: <br />Resolution 30-24 <br />
