• • <br /> RESOLUTION No. 122-06 <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS <br /> SUPPORTING WATER CONSERVATION MEASURES <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that Purissima Hills Water District, <br /> supplier of Hetch-Hetchy water to Los Altos Hills, is over its contractually entitled <br /> quantity by 35%. <br /> WHEREAS, Los Altos Hills residents are among the highest per capita users of <br /> the Hetch-Hetchy water system and have incurred penalties in the past. <br /> WHEREAS, the Hetch-Hetchy He chy water system is nearing capacity to meet the <br /> p Y <br /> needs of the Bay Area. <br /> WHEREAS, there are no planned expansions of the Hetch-Hetchy water system. <br /> WHEREAS, the electrical energy used for water distribution is about 20% of the <br /> cost of Purissima Water, and statewide, water distribution is among the highest users of <br /> electrical energy. <br /> WHEREAS, new landscaping shows a systematic increase in water usage with <br /> large lots showing the greatest water usage. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills does <br /> hereby RESOLVE to support one or more of the following water conservation measures: <br /> 1. Work with Purissima Hills Water District to inform homeowners of their <br /> potential water usage in new landscape projects and to recognize the benefits <br /> of water efficient landscapes without undue burden to the homeowners. <br /> 2. Consider incentives for property owners meeting certain water conservation <br /> criteria. <br /> 3.
