• • <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 36-04 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS <br /> WHEREAS,the Town of Los Altos Hills is proceeding with the construction of a <br /> new Town Hall and desires to incorporate energy-saving measures and improvements in <br /> the design of the building; and • <br /> WHEREAS, the Town of Los Altos Hills has determined that solar electric <br /> systems are the most environmentally friendly way of generating electricity by saving <br /> fifty pounds of nitrogen oxides, seventy pounds of sulfur dioxide and 27,000 pounds of <br /> carbon dioxide each year; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Town of Los Altos Hills has analyzed two possible sizes for the <br /> solar electric system and has determined that a larger system generating 37kw results in <br /> greater savings and larger rebates than a smaller system; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Town of Los Altos Hills has been awarded a loan from the <br /> California Energy Commission to finance energy-efficient improvements which will <br /> provide funding for most of the project costs. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council resolves to approve an application to the <br /> Packard Foundation for a grant in the amount of$75,000 to provide additional funding <br /> for the energy-efficient improvements for the new Town Hall and appoints <br /> Councilmember Kerr to apply for such funding on behalf of the Town. <br /> PASSED,APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of June, 2004. <br /> By <br /> May. <br /> Attest: - <br /> City erk <br />
