• • <br /> communication between the Town and residents in matters relating to crime prevention, <br /> traffic safety, fire prevention and disaster preparedness; <br /> c. to coordinate safety activities within the Town; <br /> d. to study issues relating to law enforcement, crime,traffic safety, <br /> fire prevention and disaster preparedness, and recommend ordinances, resolutions and <br /> other measures which would promote a safe environment for residents; <br /> e. to work with administrative staff, Planning Commission, City <br /> Council, law enforcement and fire protection authorities within the Town's jurisdiction, other <br /> Town Committees, and neighborhood groups to identify problems and potential solutions <br /> in matters relating to crime prevention traffic safety, safety of pedestrians, joggers, <br /> bicyclists and equestrians, fire prevention, and disaster preparedness; <br /> f. to study County, State and Federal emergency management <br /> systems and make recommendations concerning the Town's Disaster Plan; <br /> g. to educate the public regarding their role in improving safety <br /> and preparing for emergencies, and regarding the Town's facilities in the event of a <br /> disaster. <br /> (h) Utility and Information Systems Committee. <br /> (i) The membership of this Committee shall consist of nine (9) members <br /> including, whenever feasible, professionals with experience in <br /> information technology, underground utilities,communication systems <br /> and public works. <br /> (ii) Two subcommittees shall be created out of the eight appointed <br /> members to work, in a coordinated way, on 1) utilities and <br /> infrastructure; and 2) applied/integrated information technologies. <br /> (iii) The charges to and duties of this Committee shall be: <br /> a. to study, make recommendations and develop policies for <br /> technological improvements in utilities and integrated information systems; <br /> b. to create and update a long range plan to beautify the natural <br /> rural character of the Town by exploring options of undergrounding utilities where feasible; <br /> c. to create and update a long range plan to improve the <br /> technology for communication with residents on Town government activities and to <br /> facilitate resident input; <br /> d. to identify cost factors associated with technological <br /> improvements and determine cost effective implementation and funding sources; <br /> 8 N:\DATA\Clients\L\LAH\Res\committees2.RUT <br />
