PLANNING COMMISSION <br />TOWN OF IDS ALTOS HILLS <br />MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING <br />November 13, 1972 <br />REEL FC 10 Side 1 Track 2 490 -End <br />Side 1 Track 1 00-780 <br />Chairman McReynolds called the regular meeting of the Planning Commission of the Town <br />of Los Altos Hills to order at 8:02 P.M. in the City Council Chambers of the Town Hall, <br />26379 Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills, California. The following members answered roll <br />call: Present: Commissioners Iachenbruch, Spencer and Chairman McReynolds. Absent: <br />Commissioners Magruder and Weisbart. Commissioner Mueller arrived at 8:15 P.M. and <br />Commissioner Perkins arrived at 8:45 P.M. <br />CITY COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE: Councilmen Kubby <br />Due to the lack of a quorum, it was decided to adjourn to Study Session and to return <br />to the first items on the agenda after the Study Session. <br />ADJOURN TO STUDY SESSION: 8:03 P.M, <br />CONTINUE STUDY ON TOWN'S GOALS <br />Mr, George Mader, the Town Planner, continued on with the Preliminary Policy Statement <br />under the Trails & Paths Element section. The Commission felt that under the <br />Objectives of this section there should be some reference made to an aesthetic value. <br />Under Principles, Item No. 1, Commission concurred to continue discussion on this item <br />at a later time. In regard to the Conservation Element section, Commissioner McReynolc <br />felt there should be some reference made to the more positive approach to development <br />grid stated this should be looked at from the conservationist standpoint. It was <br />agreed to change the wording of this paragraph using the word 'preserved' instead of <br />'maintained'. Principles, Item No, 2 --Commissioner Spencer felt there was a loop hole <br />by having the wording 'where necessary'. Commission concurred to delete these words <br />to strengthen the sentence. Item No. 4 --Commissioner Iachenbruch felt the wording <br />of this item too strong and suggested rewording to reflect that every attempt should <br />be made for preservation of wildlife or of fragile ecological nature. <br />Mr. Mader then reviewed the section on Seismic Safety & Safety Element. Under the <br />Objective of this section, Commissioner Iachenbruch stated the policy should be <br />emphasized and should include floods. General discussion ensued evolving around <br />surface rupture, fault line and possible drngerous consequences of building on these <br />fault lines. It was decided upon reviewing the Noise Element section, Principles, <br />Item No. 24. that this should be rephrased to reflect the provisions of the Noise <br />Ordinance. Mr. Mader then proceeded to review the last section, Scenic Highway <br />Element. <br />RECESS: 9:05 P.M. <br />RECORVENE TO REGULAR SESSION: 9:10 P.M. <br />
