Tr. 2, 215 to 460 <br />Chairman Perkins called the meeting of the Variance and Permit Commission to <br />order at 7:07 P.M. in the Council Chambers of Town Hall. <br />ROLL CALL: <br />Present: Commissioners Perkins, VanTamelen, Lachenbruch kins <br />Also Present: Town Planner/Engineer John Markl, Secretary Ethel Hop <br />APPROVALOF MINUTES* - <br />Commissioner Perkins requested that the first sentence of paragraph two. Page <br />one under Lands of Papoulias,be deleted and the following added in its place: <br />In the discussion between Commissioners and applicant, it was em- <br />phasized by the Commission that the bases for granting a variance <br />4,V are speci fi ed by the State. The <br />final sentence beginning "Also cited was Resolution No. 694... <br />remains as written.) <br />MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: It was moved by Commissioner VanTamelen and seconded <br />by Commissioner Perkins that the Minutes of February 22 be approved as amended. <br />Voting for the motion were Commissioners VanTamelen and Perkins. Commissioner Lach- <br />enbru�h abstained. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS: <br />I . He drew particular attention to the problem of providing both an <br />easement for future road widening and a path easement along Elena Road. He stated <br />that construction difficulties must be emphasized. <br />Discussion began with Commissioner Lachenbruch asking whether a conservation <br />easement existed along the southerly property line and Commissioner Perkins asking <br />whether the six conditions for granting of a variance had been complied with. <br />Mr. Markl noted that the Open Space -Conservation Easement had been designated <br />by the General Plan; and that due to the size and shape of Mr. Duwe's lot, <br />+4W a ha dship did exist. Other limiting factors were the leach field at the back <br />of trhe property and the existing drainage swale that held a fair amount of ground <br />water at certain times of the year. Thereafter, the hearing was opened to the public. <br />
