4W
PLANNING COMMISSION
Town of Los Altos Hills
26379 Fremont Road
Los Altos Hills, California
MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING
Friday, May 12, 1978
The special meeting of the Planning Commission was convened at 4:30 P.M. on
Friday, May 12 at LaPaloma and Westwind Way for the purpose of a field trip by
the Planning Commission to inspect the following:
LANDS OF ASTRA ESTATES, File #TM 2081-78
LaPaloma Road, Siegfried Pfendt, Engineer
ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioners Stewart, VanTamelen, Kuranoff, Lachenbruch, Dochnahl
Absent: Commissioners Carico and Perkins
Staff: Town Engineer Alexander Russell, Town Planner/Engineer John Markl
Also Present: Siegfried Pfendt, 155 Angela Drive, Los Altos, Engineer for
Lands of Astra Estates
Mrs. J. M. Lantz, 26050 Newbridge Drive, Los Altos Hills
The discussion centered on the location of the road entrance, the proximity of the
road to adjoining properties, the cutting and filling requirements resulting from
the road location (discussed by Mr. Pfendt), and alternative locations for the
road. Also discussed was the development of all lots in the subdivision with
respect to cuts, fills, driveway grades and preference for lot access to be above
or below the building site of each of the lots.
One of the neighbors came up and talked. The field tour was joined by Mrs. Lantz
whose property is located immediately adjacent to the to the proposed cul-de-sac
bulb and who expressed great displeasure at having the land developed at all. She
objected to the proposed street location, the right-of-way of which is approximately
thirty feet from her home.
Further comments by the Planning Commission regarded the inflexibility of the
proposed interior lot line between the six smaller lots and the seventh major lot.
The engineer Mr. Pfendt explained that this was the result of a sales agreement
between himself and Dr. Oliver. The lot line could not be re -located to any great
degree due to preservation of building sites along the crest of the hill on Lot 7.
JM/ebh
Respectfully submitted,
John Markl
Town Planner/Engineer
