VARIANCE AND PERMIT COMMISSION <br />` TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS <br />4r 26379 Fremont Road <br />Los Altos Hills, California <br />MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING <br />Wednesday, July 12, 1978 <br />cc: Reel 70, Side I, Tr. I, 695 to 1,244 <br />Chairman Mary vanTamelen called the Regular Meeting of the Variance and Permit Commission <br />to order at 6:31 PM In the Council Chambers of Town Hall. <br />A. ROLL CALL: <br />Present: Corm lssloners vanTamelen, Dochnahl and Lachenbruch. <br />Staff: City Planner/Engineer John Markt and Deputy City Clerk Susan Buttler. <br />B. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: <br />PASSED BY CONSENSUS: That the Minutes of May 10, 1978 be approved as submitted by <br />the Commissioners present and with the consent of absent members. <br />C. PUBLIC HEARINGS: <br />I. LANDS OF JONES, File VAR #7053-78, 14486 Llddicoat Circle, Reduction In Setback <br />for Pool, R.L. Stanley, Engineer - Request for Recommendation of Approval of <br />Variance Request. <br />Mr. Markt referenced his staff report dated July 8, 1978, outlined history of the <br />property and Introduced slides of the area. Commissioner vanTamelen questioned whether <br />pool consideration had been done during the Initial Building Site Approval process,and <br />Commissioner Lachenbruch suggested that reference to Variance restrictions were only <br />necessary In the report when they did exist. <br />Mr. Jones, Applicant, offered reasons for the proposed site being the only desirable <br />and practical location. <br />Discussion then followed on problems posed by the placement of the retaining wall and <br />methods of preventing entry from that side of the pool. <br />MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Commissioner Lachenbruch, seconded by Commis- <br />sloner Dochnahl and carried unanimously to add as new Condition 4: <br />4. A detailed plan, showing the following safety .features, shall be presented <br />at time of Site Development meeting: <br />(a) A hand rail to be Installed along the five foot (5') bond beam side <br />of the pool (along the waterline). <br />(b) The pool shall be completely enclosed by fencing to prevent unauthor- <br />ized entry. <br />(c) Provisions shall be made to discourage jumping Into the pool from <br />40 above the bond beam area. <br />
