LIM <br />VARIANCE AND PERMIT COMMISSION <br />Town of Los Altos Hills <br />26379 Fremont Road <br />Los Altos Hills, California <br />MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING <br />Wednesday, April 9, 1980 <br />Reel 85, Side II, Tr. 2, 658 to 752 <br />Chairman Stewart called the meeting of the Variance and Permit Commission to order <br />in the Council Chambers of Town Hall at 7:00 p.m. <br />ROLL CALL: <br />Present: Commissioners Lachenbruch, Rydell, and Stewart <br />Absent: None <br />Also Present: City Engineer/Planner John Carlson, Secretary Ethel Hopkins <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES: <br />MOTION SECONDED AND APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY: It was moved by Commissioner Lachenbruch <br />and seconded by Commissioner Kuranoff that the Minutes of March 26 be approved as <br />` stated. <br />w PUBLIC HEARINGS: <br />1. LANDS OF LEAR, File #VAR. 7063-79, 26946 Dezahara Way, Request for Recommendation <br />of Approval for Variance in Side Setback Area for an Addition: <br />Mr. Carlson discussed the above request as detailed in his April 2 staff report. He <br />noted that the applicant was adding to his dwelling to provide for three children <br />in his family who would be coming to live with him. There would no increase in <br />the amount of impervious surface on the lot. Mr. Carlson recommended that the <br />Commission approve the request for variance, and noted that six reasons justifying <br />the variance were included in the staff report. <br />Commissioners discussed the matter briefly and then opened the hearing to the public <br />discussion. <br />William Lear, Applicant, responded to Commissioner Lachenbruch's question on additional <br />landscaping for screening purposes by noting that landscaping already at the site pro- <br />vided screening, but that he would not be adverse providing further screening. <br />The public hearing was closed, Commissioners discussed the amount of footage and size <br />of the house with the addition proposed. The following motion was passed: <br />MOTION SECONDED AND PASSED UNANIMOUSLY: It was moved by Commissioner Lachenbruch and <br />seconded by Commissioner Kuranoff to recommend approval of the variance request for the <br />Lands of Lear, File #VAR. 7063-79, with the six reasons listed in the April 2 staff <br />report, and with the following additional condition: (1) A landscape plan similar <br />to the one shown on page three of the drawings dated May 12, 1979 shall be implemented. <br />AOJOURNMENT: <br />There being no new or old business, the meeting was adjourned by Chairman Stewart at <br />7:15 p.m. Respectfully submitted, <br />Ethel Hopkins <br />
