" Minutes of an Adjourned Regular Meeting
September 1, 1993
Town of Los Altos Hills
City Council Meeting
Wednesday, September 1, 1993, 4:30 P.M.
Council Chambers 26379 Fremont Road
1. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
Mayor Johnson called the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council to
order at 4:45 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Town Hall.
Present: Mayor Johnson and Councilmembers Dauber, Hubbard,
Siegel and Tryon
Absent: None
Staff: City Manager Les M. Jones, II, City Attorney Sandy Sloan,
r+ Tom Murtha (City Attorney's office) and City Clerk Pat
Dowd
Press: Jan Shaw, Los Altos Town Crier
2. REVIEW OF SOLID WASTE FRANCHISE AGREEMENT
Tom Murtha noted that there were several outstanding issues which need to
be resolved. These included: identification of material costs which can
increase during the course of the contract, reports that the Los Altos Garbage
Company will provide to the Town on a monthly/annual basis (this includes
a complaint log and response report); and length of contract.
Jon Angin, Los Altos Garbage Company, explained how they presently handle
complaints. Basically it is a list of all phone calls received but a new program
could be put in place if Council wished. On the subject of the length of the
contract, it was his direction not to consider a contract of less than ten years.
This length of time represented five years of renewal of present contract and 5
years of new service and allowed for capital expenditures (i.e. equipment) for
programs.
September 1, 1993
Adjourned Regular Meeting
