further pointed out that Council had decided not to slurry seal which had <br />originally been recommended in the study but rather to use chip seal. Tryon <br />asked if the conditions should be strengthened at the time of subdivision and <br />the Director of Public Works reported he was working on this. Council also <br />addressed the street tree and landscaping project noting that there was $10,000 <br />in the operating budget for planting trees. On the subject of paths, Dauber <br />questioned the expense of the Lupine to Elena project ($40,000) and was <br />advised it was also a bicyle path. It was noted that it could be made narrower <br />if Council chose which would make it less costly. Council agreed to keep the <br />Page Mill Land Acquisition Project in the budget and further agreed that no <br />project less than $5,000 should be in the capital improvements budget. Siegel <br />addressed the driveway roughening project noting that it was quite expensive <br />and had brought about complaints from the residents involved. Tryon stated <br />that she was concerned about the Town's liability. Council agreed to keep the <br />project in the budget with Siegel's suggestion that a specific plan for a certain <br />number of driveways be carefully formulated for the most efficient results. <br />Carol Gottlieb, Chairman - Pathways Recreation and Parks Committee, <br />commented on the Middlefork path and was advised that the developer had <br />done what he was supposed to do but the rains had caused problems for the <br />path. Mrs. Gottlieb also noted that the Lupine to Elena path was an essential <br />path especially for the schoolchildren. Les Earnest, member of the Pathways, <br />Recreation and Parks Committee, noted that the path was not rideable at <br />present. <br />MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Tryon, seconded by <br />Hubbard and passed unanimously to reduce the Middlefork path project from <br />$24,000 to $8,000. <br />MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Tryon, seconded by <br />Hubbard and passed unanimously to remove the Street Tree/Landscaping <br />Project ($10,515) with the understanding that there was $10,000 in the <br />operating budget for street trees. <br />MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Dauber, seconded by Tryon <br />and passed unanimously to approve the following general fund projects: <br />Byrne Preserve, Pathways, Merrill pathway, Switchbacks - pathways, Via <br />Ventana pathway, Zappettini pathway, Emergency Generator, Stonebrook <br />Pathway project, Driveway Roughening Project and Page Mill Land <br />Acquisition. <br />October 20, 1993 <br />Adjourned Regular Meeting <br />
