General Manager McCann and District Engineer Burton addressed the
possibility of new wells. A survey of existing wells was shown to the group
and it was noted that potential wells seemed to be indicated at the following
locations: Arastradero and Foothill Expressway, Alta Mesa Cemetary and
Edith and Fremont. In view of this, they would like to have Council
approval to drill al Edith and Fremont. In response to inquiries from
Councilmembers, it was noted that the next step would be to drill holes for
the well. The well cover itself was flat to the ground and approximately 6' by
12' concrete. There was very little noise and geologic information and pump
tests would determine the amount of water in the well. Council suggested
the Board bring their proposal to drill a well at Edith and Fremont to a regular
City Council Meeting for consideration.
General Manager McCann addressed the issue of emergency response. He
commented on the pumps, the generator and the addition of a mobile
generator which was being purchased. Boardmembers also noted that storage
was the primary backup in case of a catastrophe.
Boardmember Seidel commented on the issue of water reduction and noted
that best management practices were being circulated around the State. He
also reiterated that landscaping, including thought-tolerant planting, was an
important issue.
3. PRESENTATIONS FROM THE FLOOR
4.
