Minutes of a Special Meeting
ifes October 30, 1991
Town of Los Altos Hills
City Council Meeting
Wednesday, October 30, 1991, 6:00 P.M.
Town Hall, 26379 Fremont Road
I. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Hubbard called the Special Meeting of the City Council to order at
6:07 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Town Hall.
Present: Mayor Hubbard and Councilmembers Johnson, Siegel
and Tryon.
Absent: Councilmember Casey
Staff: City Manager Les M. Jones, II; Director of Public Works
Bill Ekern and Acting City Clerk Karen Jost
ktir Press: None
2. APPROVAL OF COUNTYWIDE HOUSEHOLD WASTE AGENCY
AGREEMENT--RESO #55-91
The Director of Public Works expressed his appreciation to the Council for
their attendance at the Special Meeting. He explained that their approval of
the agreement at this time would enable Town residents to participate in the
November 9 -10 drop off event in Mountain View. The next event will not
be scheduled until later this year. He noted that the San Jose City Attorney is
requesting some clarification language regarding liability be added to the
agreement and it would be forth coming. The City Attorney has reviewed the
agreement and is comfortable with the present language. When the Board of
Supervisors adopts San Jose's suggested language, an amendment will be sent
to Council for approval and signing.
Siegel noted that the budgeted amount of$32,000.00 was for Fiscal Year 91-92
and wondered if it would increase in the future. Staff explained that the
Town would be billed for actual use at the end of each event and the
expectation is for approximately $10,000.00 a year. After several years we
should have a better sense of Town's use of the program. Staff noted that
costs are included in the residents garbage rates.
