COUNCIL BUSINESS: (continued) : <br /> It was agreed the City Clerk would contact those residents who had <br /> previously expressed an interest in serving on this committee and <br /> would send them community service applications. Consideration of <br /> appointments for the two alternate positions on this committee will be <br /> agendized for the June 1st meeting. <br /> PASSED BY CONSENSUS: Council agreed that a joint meeting between the <br /> Council and the General Plan Steering Committee would be most helpful <br /> and productive. It was further agreed that the Mayor would work with <br /> the Council , committee and staff on a mutually convenient time to hold <br /> such a joint meeting. <br /> 3 . Propositions 71 - Government Spending Limitation and <br /> Accountability Act and Proposition 72 - Paul Gann Spending <br /> Limit Improvement and Enforcement Act <br /> MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by van Tamelen, seconded by Tryon <br /> and passed unanimously by all members present to add comments on <br /> propositions 71 and 72 to the Council agenda as an urgency item. <br /> MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Casey, seconded by van Tamelen <br /> and passed unanimously by all members present to support Proposition <br /> 71 - Government Spending Limitation and Accountability Act - and to <br /> oppose Proposition 72 - Paul Gann Spending Limit Improvement and <br /> Enforcement Act and to direct the City Clerk to contact Terry Krivan <br /> at the Los Altos School District concerning these statements of <br /> support and opposition directly after the meeting. <br /> 4 . Mary Davey <br /> Casey commented that one of the Town ' s residents, Mary Davey, had <br /> recently been honored by two community groups and she suggested <br /> Council may also want to comment on these achievements of Ms. Davey. <br /> It was agreed that if Councilmember Casey wished she could ask that <br /> this matter be placed on the 6/1/88 agenda. <br /> 5 . Water Conservation <br /> PASSED BY CONSENSUS: To place the resolution received from the Santa <br /> Clara Valley Water District stating the necessity of reduction of <br /> water use in the County of Santa Clara in the calendar year of 1988 on <br /> the 6/1/88 Consent Calendar. <br /> 6. Donation in memory of Mrs . Siegel <br /> Tryon asked that Councilmembers consider giving a donation to the <br /> Santa Clara County Post-Polio Support Group in memory of Rita Siegel . <br /> This issue could be further discussed at the next meeting. <br /> ibr <br /> -4- 5/26/88 <br />
