I, Side I, 001-468 <br />Mayor Dronkert called the Special Meeting of the City Council to order at 3:15 p.m. <br />in the Council Chambers at Town Hall. <br />The following were present at the Special Meeting: Mayor Dronkert and Coun cilmmmanbers <br />Allison, Fuhrnan and Rydell; City Manager George Scarborough; City Engineer Michael <br />Enright and City Clerk Pat Dad. Also present was Ann Hagedorn from the San Jose <br />Mercury. <br />The City Manager presented an overview of his 6/7/85 staff report and noted that the <br />revised budget structure would change the Town's budget from the previous years' <br />department/organization based budget to a modified program budget. The Manager further <br />cowented on the fund/program structure and listed the funds for the 1985-86 budget. <br />The City Manager also referred to his 6/21/85 staff report which addressed certain items <br />in the proposed budget under the topics of office equipment, vehicles and equipment and <br />capital programs. <br />law <br />The Council reviewed the draft budget for 1985-86. Mayor Dronkert ca noated that the <br />Finance Committee had received a copy of the docwrent and had expressed agree en with <br />the City Manager's approach. In addition to some editing changes, for example page <br />numbers on each page, the Council specifically discussed the City Manager's recon endation <br />for the purchase of a computer printer and word processing software and the capital <br />program for the Fr nt Road S -Curve. Concerning the word processing equip ant, it was <br />agreed Co»ncilmenbers Allison and Rydell would discuss their concerns and suggestions <br />with the City Manager after the study session. Regarding the S -Curve Project, Council <br />concurred that staff world note the Council's concern with the cost magnitude of the <br />S -Curve project and look into alternatives and report back to the Council with additional <br />information. In addition, staff would contact the project engineer, Paul Nowack, to <br />determine exactly what was involved in the $300,000 cost of the project and if, in his <br />opinion, there were other alternatives. Council also agreed that at a later date it would <br />be appropriate to hold a study session to review the S -Curve Project. <br />Mary Stutz, chairman - Pathways Cminittee, strongly supported the City Manager's remmrn- <br />dation tor the purcHase of motor roer and also strongly suggested retaining the S -Curve <br />project in the 1985-86 budget although additional information on costs and alternatives <br />was necessary. <br />It was agreed the City Manager would make the necessary changes to the budget as discussed <br />by the Council and the appropriate public hearings would be scheduled.
