Approval of Request for Bids for Electronic Data Processing Equipment <br />Rydell asked for clarification of Exhibit A which listed the computer equip- <br />ment requested by the Tom. Allison responded that after study and review <br />it was detexmine3 the equipment listed could best fit the needs of the Town. <br />MDTION SEOONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by van Tamelen, seconded by Dronkert and <br />passed unanimously by all members present to approve request for bids for <br />electronic data processing equipment. <br />4. Resolution for Adoption: <br />a) Adopting and approving Personnel Rules and Regulations <br />vanTamel.en noted that the document before Council included several procedures <br />which were not currently in practice and questioned whether it was appropriate <br />to adopt it as it was. The City Manager responded that while the procedures <br />presented did not conform completely with practice and some sections needed <br />to be rewritten, the docwrent could be modified at a later time and it was <br />important to have personnel rules and regulations in place. Dronkert questioned <br />the tracking system employed when docwrents such as this were approved but <br />needed to be modified. The City Manager responded that this project at the <br />nonent was low on the priority list but would be added to the Manager's project <br />list. <br />MDTION sEMNDM AND CARRIED: Pbved by van Tamelen, seconded by Dronkert and <br />passed unanimously by all members present to adopt Resolution #40-84 adopting <br />and approving personnel rules and regulations <br />E. PRESENTATIONS FROM THE FLOOR: <br />Jitze Co r1C, 13680 Page Mill Road, read a letter to the Council on behalf <br />of the Town's residents who had signed a petition requesting the selection of <br />a new loan engineer after the departure of the present Town Manager. In addition <br />the letter requested Council to acknowledge the strong feelings of those resi- <br />dents who believed Mr. Carlson's work as an engineer was of the highest caliber, <br />that he served the Town well, and that he left the Town's employ with his <br />proven reputation for integrity completely intact. Since Council had already <br />decided to direct the new City Manager to hire the new City Engineer, Mr. <br />Couperus noted that the petition would be given to Mr. Carlson as a token of <br />appreciation for his services to the Town. <br />Fran Stevenson, 26989 Beaver Lane, stated that she felt the Town had <br />been poorly served by the Council in this instance of the forced resignation <br />of Mr. Carlson and she urged the present Council to reconsider the hiring of a <br />dedicated public servant. <br />Allison commented that an executive session for personnel would be scheduled <br />for 7:00 p.m. on May 16, 1984 to discuss Mr. Carlson's personnel file. Dronkert <br />cannented that she had understood Mr. Carlson had the opportunity for a public <br />discission of the matter and he had defined that option. van Tamelen noted <br />that she was pleased so man people care] so much; however, personnel matters <br />needed to remain confidential. <br />-2- <br />
