Approval of Minutes: May 5, 1982 and May 19, 1982 <br />Allison noted a typographical error on page 6, paragraph one of the 5/5/82 <br />minutes - staff renters instead of stall renters. <br />Proft noted that on page four, item E.l.a) it should be recorded that his motion <br />to continue the item was withdrawn. (minutes of May 19, 1982) <br />NOTION SECONDED AM CARRIED: Moved by Proft, seconded by Allison and passed unani- <br />mously by all members present to approve the 5/5/82 minutes as corrected. <br />NOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Moved by Proft, seconded by Allison and passed unani- <br />m>usly by all members present to approve the 5/19/82 minutes as aTended. <br />Allison raised questions concerning warrants #8043, 8047, 8054 and 8058. The <br />City Manager explained each of these exoenses. <br />MOTION SECONDED AND CARRIED: Mnved by van Tamelen, seconded by Proft and passed <br />unanimously by all members present to approve the warrants - $36,394.92. <br />C. SPECIAL REPORTS: <br />1. Reports of Standing Ca ittees: none <br />2. Reports of Ad Hoc Committees: <br />a) Ad Hoc Polio Protection Committee <br />Allison presented his preliminary report dated 5/18/82. He asked Council to <br />approve supplemental service, i.e. add an additional 40 hours per week (four <br />ten hour shifts) to the traffic patrol in Town during the day. This service <br />would cost approximately $60,000 per year, would be on a temporary basis and <br />could be terminated if it was fouid to be unnecessary. <br />PASSED BY CONSENSUS: To agendize for the next Council meeting the decision by <br />Council whether to begin supplemental service on July 1, 1982. <br />Allison further comiented on the negotiations with the Sheriff's Department. <br />Proft asked to go on record as not approving an open-ended contract. Allison <br />noted that the contract was presently being worked on and at the appropriate time <br />would be presented to the Council and the City Attorney for consideration. <br />Allison requested the immediate formation of an ad hoc committee to study police <br />protection alternatives. He suggested that the names of possible azrmittee <br />members be presented to Council for their approval. Proft requested and Allison <br />agreed to have the specific charges of this cammittee available for Council review <br />at the next meeting. <br />3.
