CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - August 4, 1982 <br />D. STAFF - REPORTS, CORRESPONDENCE AMID AMUNCII+IIIVIS: <br />2. City Planner: <br />a) Resolution # establishing rates of charges to be made in connection <br />with subdivision of land, parcel maps, site development, building site <br />approval, inspection fees, conditional use permits, variances and septic <br />tanks. <br />The City Planner presented his report dated July 30, 1982 which explained the new <br />rate structure and what services would be affected by the new rates. He further <br />noted that the new rates, if adopted, would be effective August 5, 1982. <br />MDTION SECONDED APED CARRIED: Moved by Hillestad, seconded by van Tamelen and passed <br />unanimously to adopt Resolution #1468 establishing rates of charges to he made in <br />connection with subdivison of land, parcel maps, site development, building site <br />approval, inspection fees, conditional use permits, variances and septic tanks. <br />E. SPECIAL ORDERS: <br />1. Public Hearings <br />a) Resolution # adopting an appropriation limit for the 1982-83 fiscal <br />year. <br />M7TION SEODADED APED CARRIED: Moved by Hillestad, seconded by Allison and passed <br />unanimously to adopt Resolution #1469 adopting an appropriations limit for the <br />1982-83 fiscal year. <br />b) Resolution # adopting the Palo Alto sewer service charge final <br />report and authorizing transmittal to the Santa Clara County Assessor's <br />Office <br />The City Planner presented his staff report dated July 29, 1982 which included the <br />staff recc endation regarding the 1982-83 sewer rates for the Palo Alto Basin. <br />MDTION SEOJPDED AMID CARRIED: Moved by Hillestad, seconded by Proft and passed unan- <br />imously to adopt Resolution #1470 adopting the Palo Alto sewer service charge final <br />report and authorizing transmittal to the Santa Clara County Assessor's Office. <br />2. Resolution # amending the schedule of rates for garbage collection and <br />disposal services <br />Mr. Joseph Renati, President - Los Altos Garbage Copany and Steve FYaguglia, <br />Operations Manager - Los Altos Garbage Cupany addressed the Council explaininc <br />the proposed rate schedule, curbside service, billing dates and experimental <br />programs such as use of covered structures for garbage cans. <br />Council noted that in the proposed rate structure an incentive was provided for <br />those customers using curbside service. Questions were raised and discussed <br />regarding this service, i.e. cost-saving?, traffic problems?, litigation? <br />-4- <br />
