CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - November 19, 1975 <br />C. SPF.C'AL REP04TS: <br />1. Torr, Historian Florence Fava: Report on faetinq on n0n7a Trek. <br />Firs. Fava reported to Council that as a result of a meeting held recently <br />regarding the OeAnza Trek, the parade was scheduled to leave the Foothill <br />Expressway at Edith Avenue and foiioc, Fremont Road to Arastradero Road. <br />The day is scheduled for !larch 26th. She noted that the City of Los Altos <br />and the Town of Los Altos 'tills planned a .joint celebration .gith a pancake <br />breakfast and plans are nodi being formulated. In conjunction with the Trek, <br />the County nlanned to olace a marker at the corner of Fremont Road and <br />N ran,!a. She also noted that groups or hands who planned to particinate in <br />the event should let the County know by January 1st. <br />"eyor Grabo,ski inquired as to whether anyone planned to take films of the <br />event. Pars. Fava stated that the Bicentennial Committee had requested Mr. <br />Keith Merrill to film the re-enactrent; eho said he trould donate his cret! <br />and the Telan -ould just have to pay for the film. She also stated that each <br />City r�'as beingasked to r -ay for one uniform, and she thought the Committee <br />vould have sufficient fends for the expenditure. <br />2. Presentations from the Floor: <br />a) 'srs. Irma (Ioldsmith, Chairman, Traffic and Public Safety Committee: <br />Reported that as a result of their concern for bicycle safety and in an <br />effort to educate the '-dkn :•iter to the laws pertaining to bicyclists, <br />the Committee had sugnestae. a contest to he conducted teased on State <br />Bicycle laws. She noted that if prizes were a!•arded the winners, that <br />this right be an incentive for the children. <br />After discussion. it was the concensus of Council that the Committee <br />should proceed +::ith outlining their plans and proposal and then submit <br />them for Council annroval. <br />b) Mr. Larry Giller, 9inedo Lane! <br />Addressed Council concerninq the natter of the Los Altos School pistrict <br />and nlans in Process to sell Purissima School. He urned the Council to <br />create a form of zoning to prevent the school lands from b0 no converted <br />into a residential subdivision, noting that the Cities of Los Altos and <br />Palo Alto had made similar moves. <br />Because of the nature of the item, and because Council had no information <br />before them on !hich to base any decision, the Nayor, with the consent <br />of P"r. Giller an^ ,Ir. Jack Elmberg, directed that Staff nut the matter <br />on the Council Agenda of December 3rd for consideration at that time. <br />D.
