SOPEP.9ISM rFRALDIu` S719RFRO° <br />Mayor Helgesson announced that he was pleased to introduce Supervisor Geraldine <br />Steinhern. who represented the Fifth District nn the Santa Clara County Roard of <br />Supervisors. <br />Sunervisor Steinberg stated she was nleased to be present this evening and said <br />she had found, since her appointment to the Roard a year apo, that there was a <br />great need to have onenness in government. She said she !•iould hive a brief over- <br />vie,s of the policy -racing decisions of the Board and then oven the floor for <br />questions from rouncil and the public. <br />After a summary of County activities i�hich were the resnensibility of the Board, <br />Supervisor Steinhern ge.ve some of the highlinhts which ha' hannenerl. since she <br />took office. She noted that she had worked on the renegotiations between the <br />Torm and the County relative to Sheriff services; she had ijofted closely with the <br />Ta:!n's officials, including Councilwoman Hiller, renardinq lands i thin the Town's <br />Sphere of Influence, and as a result, the Town has a chance to revievi any actions <br />being considered before the Roard with renard to land i+ithin that Sphere. She <br />said the Board of Supervisors had ordered a complete Audit of the County Assess- <br />or's n4fice, which rias a culmination of the efforts of Staff and ')r. nean <br />Alexander regardinn assessment practices. <br />Su-,erviscr StOlhbeYg then responded to various questions frog Cuuncil and the <br />Pud ic, notin^ in particular her feelings with regard to a City-Colmty type of <br />novcrncent.
