En <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - January 2, 1974 <br />and that through traffic should be discouraged by whatever means <br />possible. He also stated that the 35MPH speed limit on the narrow, <br />winding roads of the Town was unrealistic and excessive; that the <br />safest maximum speed was 25 MPH. <br />Councilman Grabowski also noted that the new maximum speed limit <br />on the IS280 <br />speedlimitshould be noted as 55 MPH. <br />the Foothill Expressway be setsats35ged <br />MPH <br />to minimize noise. <br />MOTION, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Councilwoman Miller, moved, seconded by <br />Councilman Grabowski and unanimously carried to adopt Resolution #745 <br />approving and adopting the revised General Plan. <br />G. STAFF REPORTS: <br />1. City Manager: <br />a) Reported that Mr. Robert Hoffman had resigned as a member of the <br />Santa Clara County Fire Protection District, and asked Council's direction <br />as to whether they would like to make recommendations to the County <br />Board of Supervisors regarding a replacement for Mr. Hoffman. Staff <br />[ was directed to write the Board requesting that the naming of a re- <br />f6r placement be deferred until the Council could make recommendations to the <br />Board concerning this matter. <br />b) Mr. Lawson noted that a letter had been received addressed to Council <br />from the Traffic and Public Safety Committee. <br />c) Informed Council that a bill had been sent to the owner of the <br />car that had been witnessed as knocking signs down in the Town along <br />Altamont and Taaffe Roads. <br />letterad been from Sheriff's Office <br />Burglary Prevention Program. <br />e) The Town had received a letter from the City of Morgan Hill stating <br />their objections to weighted voting as proposed by the Planning Policy <br />Committee of Santa Clara County. <br />f) Regarding Mr. Lawson's memo on Planning Services, the City Attorney <br />was directed to prepare a contract to be entered into between the <br />Town and William Spangle & Associates for Planning Consultant Services. <br />2. CITY ATTORNEY: <br />a) Relative to the letter from the City of Baldwin Park, Mr. G11110 <br />informed Council that he had written to the City for additional <br />information on which to base a recommendation he could give to Council. <br />-5- <br />
