Cheney noted that 5 members supported the majority report, 3 opposed and 1 ab- <br />stained. Additional floor comments were heard from Messrs. F. Wheeler,K.Young, <br />D. Spencer and J. Schaeffer and Mrs. I. Goldsmith. <br />Staff estimated a 7 man force would cost approximately $162,000 initially, <br />while an 8 man force would be $180,000. Contracting communications would in- <br />volve up to an an additional $12,000 per year. <br />Council concurred to take under advisement the recommendation of the Public <br />Protection Commission that a local police department be established comprised <br />Of not less than 8 men. The additional recommendation that legal action be <br />initiated against the Sheriff's department to establish the degree of basic <br />Sheriff responsibilities was deferred upon the City Attorney's reminder that <br />similar litigation was in process in Los Angeles County. <br />In response to another Commission recommendation, that legislation be promoted <br />to obtain State aid to relieve the tax burden for providing police protection <br />to Foothill College, Council concurred with Councilman Miller's suggestion that <br />a meeting first be set up with College officials. <br />UNSCHEDULED ITEM N0. 4: <br />DISCUSSION AND ACTION ON PROPOSED ADDITIONAL FIRE CONTROL FOR LOS ALTOS HILLS. <br />Council concurred to continue this item to the June Sth meeting. <br />UNSCHEDULED ITEM NO. 5: <br />PRESENTATION OF 1972-73 FISCAL YEAR BUDGET. <br />This item was deferred to the end of the meeting for discussion at a Study <br />Session. <br />UNSCHEDULED ITEM NO. 6: <br />APPROVAL OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS FOR TRACT #4169, RHUS RIDGE RANCHOS. <br />The Town Engineer stated all public improvements for this subdivision had been <br />completed and he recommended that they be accepted. <br />MOTION, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Councilman Davey moved, seconded by Mill=r and <br />carried unanimously that the public improvements for Tract # 4169 (Rhus Ridge <br />Ranchos) be accepted. <br />UNSCHEDULED ITEM NO. 7: <br />STAFF REPORTS: <br />1. City Attorney was directed to take necessary steps to have a construction <br />shed located on Natoma Road removed, since it is in violation of the zoning <br />ordinance. <br />2. In response to a question posed at the last meeting, Staff stated that the <br />Fire Marshal had advised that an open 8" pipe at 80 psi with an unlimited sup- <br />ply of water would discharge 17,000 gallons per minute. <br />PRESENTATIONS FROM THE FLOOR: <br />1.
