UNSCHEDULED ITEM N9__5- _ <br />RESPONSE TO PALO ALTO'S REQUEST FOR A FEDERAL GRANT TO PURCHASE OPEN SPACE. <br />Staff reviewed the letter from ADAG which requested comments regarding Palo Alto's <br />request for Federal Aid in acquiring approximately 1000 acres of Foothill open space <br />located below their Foothill Park. The majority of the Council concurred with the <br />application, but Councilman Grabowski objected to the use of Federal funds to finance <br />Palo Alto annexations. <br />MOTION, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Councilman Davey moved, seconded by Helgesson to <br />advise ABAG that the Town supports the Palo Alto request for a Federal grant to <br />acquire Foothill open space and it was carried by the following roll call vote: <br />Ayes: Councilmen Corbett, Davey, Helgesson and Mayor Benson. Noes: Councilman <br />Grabowski. <br />UNSCHEDULED ITEM NO_. 6: <br />APPOINT MEMBERS TO CITIZEN'S OPEN SPACE COMMIT'T'EE <br />Mayor Benson accepted candidates for appointment to a Citizen's Open Space Committee <br />to work with the Chairman, Mr. Charles S. McCandless. Names were submitted by <br />Councilmen Davey and Corbett. <br />UNSCHEDULED ITEM NO. 7: <br />L REQUEST FROI LOS ALTOS FO.R FINANCIAL PARTICIPATION IN THE AFTER-SCHOOL AND SUMMER <br />RECREATIONAL PROGRAM AT THE PURLSSIMA SCHOOL. <br />Staff reviewed the summer recreational Program at Purissima School which was conducted <br />by the City of Los Altos. It was noted that Los Altos agreed to sponsor this program <br />on the condition that the school district and the Town each contribute $1000. The <br />Town participated in 1969 and 1970, but Council action was required to allocate <br />$1000 for the 1971 program. <br />Council discussion noted the tight budget restrictions but motion by Councilman <br />Corbett, seconded by Mayor Benson to decline participation failed. <br />MOTION, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Councilman Davey moved, seconded by Grabowski to allo- <br />cate $1000 to Los Altos for the Purissima School recreation program carried by the <br />following roll call vote: Byes: Councilmen Devey, Grabowski and Helgesson. <br />Noes: Councilman Corbett and Mayor Benson. <br />UNSCHEDULED ITEM NO. 8 <br />DISCUSSION OF AND ACTION ON AB813, SB690, SB691, SB692, SB693, and SB1532 <br />Staff reviewed the above mentioned bills before the Legislature and the Council <br />requested staff to advise the Town's legislators that the Council supports passage <br />of these bills. <br />SB690, 691, 692, 693 relate to control of noise pollution.
