SCHEDULED ITEM NO. 2 - STEERS cont'd.: <br />It was noted that legally a similar building could be erected, but the <br />many protests from the neighborswore acknowledged. <br />MOTION, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Councilman Aiken moved, seconded by Helgesson <br />and carried by majority voice vote to deny granting of the permit to <br />Mrs. Mary G. Steers (UP -344-70) to move a building into Los Altos Hills at <br />26989 Beaver Lane. Councilmen Davey and Grabowski voted against denial. <br />SCHEWLED ITEM NO. 3: <br />REPORT ON RESULTS OF TOWN QUESTIONNAIRE. <br />The first report from the Los Altos Hills Association giving partial results <br />of the recent Town -wide questionnaire on those questions which might affect <br />the 1970-71 Fiscal Year Budget was presented by Mrs. William Ward, and <br />represented 749 responses out of 1,889 mailed. Among these were 493 <br />residents over five years in residence and 240 under five years. Of note, <br />the longest residency in Town was sixty years. <br />City Manager summarized the following results tabulated to date: <br />1. Over 2 to 1 felt the Sheriff's 10 hr/day contract was not adequate <br />protection. <br />2. Over 2 to 1 felt the supplemental private patrol played an effective <br />role and should be continued. <br />3. For the same cost, nearly 2 to 1 preferred additional private patrol <br />over the Sheriff's service. <br />4. There was a 50/50 split on whether the Town should adopt some method <br />of Vehicular Identification. <br />5. Nearly 2 to 1 were willing to pay added taxes for added protection. <br />6. Over 50% felt the Town had acquired sufficient open space and <br />recreational land. <br />7. There was a near 50/50 split on whether the Town had too many tax free <br />facilities. <br />8. Nearly 2 to 1 against higher taxes to retain open space. <br />9. Among priority of Town services, police protection was first, followed <br />by road maintenance and then drainage. <br />Staff was requested to prepare a resolution commending the Los Altos Hills <br />Association for their many hours of public service in preparation of the <br />questionnaire and the subsequent tabulation of the results. <br />UNSCHEDULED ITEM NO. 1: <br />REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO FILE A PARCEL MAP FOR FREDERICK T. ADAMS, <br />26450 Aric Lane (355-69). <br />City Manager reviewed that a Tentative Map for Mr. Adams had been approved <br />by the City Council April 21, 1969, which created three building sites at <br />the end of Aric Lane. The Check List placed certain conditions on the sub- <br />division which should be met prior to the filing of a Parcel Map. These <br />were: (1) Payment of the Park and Open Space in -lieu payment per Ord. #117; <br />(2) dedicating the 10' path easement along the northern boundaries of <br />lots #2 and #3 and within the 25' sewer easement along the easterly <br />boundary of lot #3; and (3) pay'the path in -lieu payment for the frontage <br />along the northerly boundaries of lots #2 and #3. <br />-3- <br />
