SCHEDULED ITEM NO. 1: Business License Ord. No. 64: <br />4W Council discussion ensued concerning possible amendments reducing license <br />fee requirements for gardners and delivery vehicles, with Floor participa- <br />tion by Mrs. J. G. Ronsiek, 13023 Vista del Valle Court, Mrs. F. Olgiati, <br />25960 Vinedo Lane, Mrs. D. A. Miller, 13076 Vista del Valley Court, and <br />Mr. Don Spencer, 27490 Sherlock Road. <br />MOTION AND SECOND: Councilman Fowle moved, seconded by Benson, that it is <br />the sense of this Council that Ordinance No. 64 should remain in effect, <br />without change. <br />Councilman Davey objected to the Motion and suggested the Ordinance be <br />amended to decrease the annual license fee for gardners to $10.00. <br />Motion and Second were withdrawn. <br />Councilman Benson moved that the $25.00 annual license fee for gardners be <br />continued in conformance with requirements with neighboring municipalities. <br />Motion died for lack of a Second. <br />Council concurred that a reduced annual license fee for gardners might be <br />desirable and requested Staff to provide recommendations for a proposed <br />fee schedule revision at the next meeting. <br />SCHEDULED ITEM NO. 2: <br />CONSIDERATION OF PROPOSED STUDY FOR COUNTY CONVENTION CENTER/ARENA. <br />Staff report was presented re the proposed study by Stanford Research <br />!. Institute for the County Convention Center/Arena complex, noting the cost <br />` of the study to Los Altos Hills would be $108.00. <br />Councilman Benson requested Council discussion on the proposed study being <br />considered by the Inter -City Council. <br />Council discussion ensued concerning the compatibility of the proposed <br />facility study with Town objectives, with Floor participation by C. Boyenga, <br />12425 Hilltop Drive, E. A. Breyman, 13456 Wildcrest Drive. <br />MOTION AND SECOND: Councilman Benson moved, seconded by Helgesson, that <br />the Council approve the expenditure of $108.00 for a Stanford Research <br />Institute study of a possible convention complex and arena for Santa Clara <br />County, providing the following is done: 1) Inform Stanford Research <br />Institute and ask them to place in their final report, Los Altos Hills' <br />feeling that this center should be for the benefit of the residents and <br />should not be used as an attraction to entice more traffic and people into <br />the County; and 2) The center should be an arena type affair which is <br />needed for sports, symphonies, etc. <br />Councilman Fowle indicated his opposition due to Town objectives, including <br />the discouraging of increased population density in this area. <br />Council discussion clarified the following: <br />1. Council basically concurred with Councilman Fowle's sentiments and <br />definitely does not desire to see a complex of this type in the immediate <br />vicinity of Los Altos Hills. <br />L 2. Commitment to the study does not further commit the Town to participate <br />in financing a future complex. <br />-2- <br />
