A Northern California Seminar on Regional Government will be held <br />Saturday, March 8th at the County Board of Supervisors' Chambers in San Jose. <br />SCHEDULED ITEM NO. 1: 6 8� <br />APPOINTMENT OF CITY MANAGER. <br />Mayor Aiken stated the City Council had established two basic requirements in <br />seeking a new City Manager; one being, 5 years municipal management experience, <br />the other being an engineering background. Mayor Aiken noted that ten <br />candidates were interviewed out of twenty-eight applications received. <br />Mayor Aiken announced the unanimous selection by the City Council of <br />Mr. Murl M. Fritschle, as the new City Manager of Los Altos Hills. Mayor <br />Aiken reviewed Mr. Fritschle's professional background and stated <br />Mr. Fritschle's employment will become effective March 16, 1969 at an annual <br />salary of $19,200. <br />Mr. Fritschle and his family were introduced and welcomed to the community. <br />UNSCHEDULED ITEM NO. 1• <br />WOLFGRAM, R. C. (V-319-69) - Request for 15' reduction in rear and side 7a/ <br />setbacks to 15' for pool at 13750 Robleda Road. <br />Staff report was presented, noting the proposed pool location appeared to be <br />the only logical one due to existing drainfield and landscaping, and that the <br />Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval subject to the require- <br />ment that the southerly and westerly property lines be fenced. <br />MOTION, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Councilman Benson moved, seconded by Helgesson <br />and carried unanimously, that the variance application of R. C. Wolfgram <br />(V-319-69) for 15' reduction in rear and side setbacks to 15' for pool at <br />13750 Robledi Road be approved, subject to the requirement that the southerly <br />and westerly property lines be fenced. <br />UNSCHEDULED ITEM NO. 2: <br />CONSIDERATION OF JOINING COUNTY COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. <br />Staff report was presented, noting that investigation has revealed the Town <br />could join the Santa Clara County Communication System for an initial outlay <br />of approximately $900/1,GDO. The only additional future cost to the Town <br />would be a maintenance fee of $100.00 annually. The communication system <br />would consist of a separate radio unit installed in the Code Enforcement <br />Officer's vehicle. The communication system would allow monitoring of the <br />Los Altos Police Department, Stanford University Police Department, Foothill <br />College Police Department, and the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office. In <br />addition, there would be direct contact with the Department of Motor Vehicles <br />and Emergency Teletype Service, which would allow immediate access to vehicle <br />registrations, automobile statistics, warrants, stolen vehicles, all point <br />bulletins, etc. <br />Lo Acting Manager requested that the Council authorize connection to the County <br />Communication System, with the understanding that the final contract would <br />be brought before the Council for its action. <br />-2- <br />
