ANNOUNCEMENTS: <br />City Manager noted the following: <br />1. The Council has been invited to attend the dedication of the Milpitas <br />Civic Center on Saturday, July 12 at 2:00 P. M. <br />2. Planning Commissioner Thomas P. McReynolds has been appointed to replace <br />Commissioner William A. Perkins on the Northwest Zoning Flood Control <br />Advisory Committee. <br />3. The Los Altos Chamber of Commerce is seeking sponsors for the Miss Los <br />Altos 1969-70 Contest. <br />4. Councilman Davey noted Senate Hearings will be held Thursday, July 10, <br />on the Bay Conservation bills and suggested the Town send a telegram to <br />Senator Randolph Collier, Chairman of the Finance Committee reaffirming <br />Town support for the proposed Knox and Petris bills. Council concurred. <br />SCHEDULED ITEM NO. 1: <br />PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER ADOPTION BY REFERENCE OF COUNTY ORDINANCE <br />REGULATING SWIMMING POOL SERVICES. <br />Staff report was presented noting the Public Hearing had been continued to <br />consider adoption of the County Ordinance providing for certification of <br />servicemen who engage in the business of servicing and maintaining swimming <br />pools for a fee, that no restrictions were imposed by the Ordinance upon the <br />( homeowners and that an individual servicing or maintaining more than one (1) <br />pool would be required to be registered. <br />Council discussion ensued concerning registration requirements for neighbor- <br />hood boys desiring to clean swimming pools, with Floor participation by <br />Mr. E. Pearl, County Health Department. Council concurred the Ordinance <br />should be amended so as to allow cleaning of pools without registration, as <br />long as mechanical equipment is not involved. City Attorney stated the <br />amendment would be incorporated into Ordinance No. 156 for the Second <br />Reading. <br />UNSCHEDULED ITEM NO. 1: <br />LEACH, WALTER JR. (V-327-69) - Request for 20' reduction in southerly setback <br />to 201 for new residence at Lot #12, Hillcrest Estates #2, Tract #4020. <br />Staff report was presented noting the applicant requested a 20' reduction <br />in southerly setback to 20' for new residence, but the Planning Commission <br />recommended a reduction of 10' be allowed and that conditions of approval <br />require Site Development Approval for grading the site, as well as grading <br />Westridge Court. Staff noted the applicant had advised that the Planning <br />Commission recommendation for the 10' variance was acceptable. <br />MOTION, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Councilman Benson moved, seconded by <br />Helgesson and carried unanimously, that the request of Walter Leach, Jr. <br />(V-327-69) for 10' reduction in southerly setback to 30' for new residence <br />at Lot #12, Hillcrest Estates #2, Tract #4020, be approved, subject to the <br />above conditions of approval. <br />-2 <br />
