CITY COUNCIL <br />TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS <br />MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING <br />Iry November 25, 1968 <br />REEL 14, SIDE 1, TRACK 1 - FOOTAGE 00-90 <br />Mayor Wm. Ross Aiken called the Special Meeting of the City Council of the <br />Town of Los Altos Hills to order at 7:08 P. M. in the Council Chambers of <br />the Town Hall, 26379 Fremont Road, Los Altos Hills, with the following <br />members answering roll call: Present: Councilmen Benson, Davey, Fowle, <br />Helgesson, Mayor Aiken. Absent: None. <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />1. Mayor Aiken stated the Special Council meeting had been called only as <br />an informational meeting concerning Town acquisition of open space land and <br />that no official action would be taken at this meeting. <br />Councilman Davey announced the Town had received $30,000 in private donations <br />from anonymous donors to be used to enhance the corridor between Byrne Park <br />and the Lands of Duveneck. Mrs. Davey noted the donations will enhance the <br />border of the entrance to the Park and will serve as a unique tribute to open <br />space in Los Altos Hills. <br />City Manager reviewed the original Tentative Map for the proposed Parkside <br />Subdivision, 48 lots, located adjacent to Byrne Park, noting that 13 lots <br />were proposed along Moody Court and that the proposed corridor donation con- <br />sisted of approximately 23 acres. <br />L City Manager reviewed the Alternate Tentative Map for Parkside Subdivision, <br />44 lots, noting that five lots along Moody Court would be eliminated and <br />two lots (#27 and #28) in the vicinity of the spring on Byrne Park would be <br />eliminated,in exchange for the $30,000 private donation and three lots on <br />The Nature Conservancy lands near Altamont. City Manager stated the proposed <br />park corridor would thus be increased to 28.3 acres. <br />City Manager read letter from Huey D. Johnson, Western Regional Director of <br />The Nature Conservancy, dated November 25th, confirming the support of The <br />Nature Conservancy for the proposal. <br />MOTION, SECONDED AND CARRIED: Councilman Davey moved, seconded by Fowle and <br />carried unanimously, that the Council express its intention to accept with <br />grativia_ this anonymous donation to provide open space for a park corridor, <br />subject to the provision that the park corridor is realized by the Town. <br />Coun::il expressed their appreciation to Councilman Davey for her efforts in <br />coordinating the private donations. <br />Mr. Donald E. Spencer, 27490 Sherlock Road, and Planning Commissioner L. <br />Dawson commended the Council's achievements in preserving open space. <br />There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:26 P.
