Patterson, spokesman for Robleda area residents, <br />summarized the traffic problems and the serious accidents, <br />.suggesting additional patrolling and control in some <br />physical manner, such as, a dividing curb down the center- <br />line of the road. <br />Messrs. Marko, Hibner, Persons, Briggs, Austin,. Johnson <br />and Carmichael, and the Mrs. Patterson and Goldsmith <br />commented on this traffic problem. Suggested solutions in- <br />cluded the widening of shoulders and road, warning signs, <br />additional law enforcement with high fines, and radar control. <br />Commissioner Hibner volunteered to work with the City Manager <br />in investigating and correctinthis situation. <br />Councilman Aiken offered the following expedient measures: <br />1) Improve road and shoulders, with drainage control <br />2) Warning signs <br />3) Radar control <br />4) Chatterbars in the centerline of the road <br />5) Have the Foothill College advise the students, <br />since E1 Monte Avenue is rebuilt, there is no <br />longer any need to use these back roads. <br />The City Manager explained improvements in this area had been <br />(-� planned on the Town's road schedule for three months and are <br />( due to be started in about two weeks, consisting of grading <br />for better site clearance, widening of shoulder on southerly <br />side, additional signing, and drainage control. <br />ACTTOIT: <br />That .the Council instruct the Staff to: <br />(1) Immediately take steps to better sign the <br />area of Robleda Road, between I'urissima <br />and Wildcrest.Drive, and to consider - <br />seriously the possibility Of installing <br />chatterbars immediately and taking what- <br />ever action that can be done on anemer- <br />gency basis; <br />(2) Study and submit a plan to the Council for <br />a longer range improvement of the road <br />itself. <br />MOTION: Aiken; .SECUD : Fowle <br />AP'H'2 DS7';NT: <br />(3) Immediately request increased police <br />surveillance in said area. <br />Aim'?rTDED BY: Aiken, S'3COND: Fowle; VOTE: Passed unanimously. <br />r. <br />( <br />Flint ofaFo Foothill College the with theoview ofp askingrach DhimCalodin C. <br />-3- <br />
