V <br />pOMMITTEEREPORTS: Safety Measures at G, Bullis School (Contld�); <br />Mrs. Barber asked that the Council provide the 5300 <br />immediately as this change was voted upon the first week of <br />June and the Town's monies would give the F. T. A. time to <br />raise the matching funds. The Council was agreeable to this <br />plan. <br />ACTION: <br />That the City Clerk be instructed to pay to <br />the extent of ?300.00 toward the cost of <br />hiring one crossing guard at Gardner Bullis <br />School. <br />MOTION: Henley; SECOND: Fowle <br />Mr. R. W. Towle, 26493 Weston Road, said while he was in favor <br />of the crossing guard at the Bullis School, there will be a <br />similar problem at the Fremont School due to the heavy traffic <br />and excessive speeds. <br />The Question was called. <br />ROLL CALL: AYES: Bowler, Fowle, Henley, Mayor Clayton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Deputy Mayor Aiken <br />Mrs. Barber expressed the appreciation of the F. T. A, for <br />the Town's cooperation. <br />The Mayor suggested that perhaps the F. T. A. could approach <br />the Council to reduce the speed zone along Fremont Avenue.' <br />OLD .BUSINESS: <br />1. Appointment of Planning Commissioner. <br />Councilman Fowle said he would be honored to place the name <br />of Arthur S. Alter in nomination for a third term as Planning <br />Commissioner and further stated Commissioner Alter's sound <br />judgment and extensive knowledge made him invaluable. <br />Councilman Henley mutually agreed by moving that nominations <br />be closed. <br />Councilman Bowler, having served with Commissioner Alter, <br />expressed the desire to recognize Commissioner Alter's <br />tremendouscontribution to the Town. <br />The Mayor received a telephone call from Deputy Mayor Aiken <br />expressing his regret he would not be present to cast his <br />vote for Commissioner Alter. <br />The Secretary cast a White Ballot. <br />Commissioner .Arthur S. Alter will serve as Planning Commissioner <br />for aterm of four years, expiring August 1?, 1968. <br />-2- <br />
