OLD BUSINESS: Wheeler Subdivision (Cont'd.): <br />Mr. Oliver Wheeler stated he was strongly in favor of dedi- <br />cating one acre for a park, and though willing to go 15' on an <br />easement basis, he was not willing to stand the cost of <br />gravelling the road and maintaining it. Mr. Wheeler presented <br />a revised Tentative Map showing the proposed one acre dedica- <br />tion for a park and a 15' fire trail; he also stated he would <br />be willing to dedicate one more acre at a later date when the <br />"glade" comes into a park from corresponding grants from adjoin- <br />ing land owners. Mr. Wheeler did stipulate he wished to preserve <br />his water supply, but is willing to be flexible to generally <br />preserve. the glade area. <br />Comments were heard from the following property owners: <br />H. F. Buswell, 501 Cherry Avenue, Los Altos <br />D. Janssen, 27440 Sherlock Road <br />11. R. Johnson, 26417 Weston Road <br />Mrs. G. J. Kuehn, 11641 Buena Vista Drive <br />Councilman Fowle was strongly in favor of having the fire trail. <br />improved to minimum road standards. <br />AMENDED MOTION: <br />That the 15' fire trail be improved by Mr. Wheeler <br />to minimum standards to allow access for the <br />passage of fire trucks. <br />MOTION: Fowls; SECOND: Bowler <br />Discussion followed as to the condition of Central Drive and <br />( 1 to the extent of the work needed, since it is the intent of the <br />City Council to provide the best possible fire protection and <br />safety for the Town; as well as preserve this wilderness area. <br />Mr. Wheeler contended the road is perfectly passable in summer <br />when fire hazards are the worst. In view of the discussion, <br />andin agreement with the Movers and Seconders, the Motion and <br />Amendment were withdrawn and the following Motion substituted: <br />ACTION: <br />That the Revised Tentative Map of Lands of Wheeler, <br />submitted March 7, 1966, be aT`proved, subject to; <br />-1) Dedication of an easement fifteen feet (15') in <br />width along the entire length of Central Drive - <br />across the subdivided lands for the limited pur- <br />poses of non -vehicular travel and of vehicular <br />travel by public safety vehicles, and the improvement <br />of said easement by grading thereof to a width of <br />at least ten feet (10'); <br />2) Dedication of approximately one (1) acre For <br />park purposes; <br />3) Approval of all agencies except the Fire Department, <br />which Department's requirements for access are <br />modified in accordance with Item 1 above; <br />4) Planning Commission Check List, except for the <br />item requiring a sixty foot (60') dedication. <br />-� SUBSTITUTE MOTION: Clayton; SECOCID: .Aiken <br />VOTE: Passed unanimously. <br />-2- <br />
