ORDINANCE NO. 291 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS <br />HILLS FURTHER AMENDING CHAPTER 5 ENTITLED "ZONING" <br />OF THE LOS ALTOS HILLS MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING <br />SECTIONS 9-5.219 AND 9-5.703 CONCERNING SECONDARY <br />DWELLINGS <br />The City Council of the City of the Town of Los Altos Hills <br />DOES ORDAIN as follows: <br />SECTION 1. AMENDMENT OF CODE. <br />Section 9-5.219 entitled "Floor Area, Gross" of Chapter 5 <br />entitled "Zoning" of Title 9 of the Los Altos Hills Municipal Code <br />is hereby amended by adding thereto the following: <br />SECTION 9-5.219. FLOOR AREA; GROSS <br />"Gross Area" for the purposes of determing the <br />allowable size of second units shall mean the sum of <br />the gross horizontal areas of all of the floors of <br />the building. All horizontal dimensions shall be <br />taken from the exterior faces of walls, including <br />walls or other enclosures, such as enclosed porches. <br />SECTION 2. AMENDMENT OF CODE. <br />Subsection (k) of Section 9-5.703 entitled "Conditional Uses <br />and Structures (R -A)" of Chapter 5 entitled "Zoning" of Title 9 of <br />the Los Altos Hills Municipal Code is hereby amended by amending <br />the first three sentences thereof to read as follows: <br />SECTION 9-5.703. CONDITIONAL USES AND STRUCTURES (R -A) <br />(k) Secondary dwellings are subject to the applicable <br />provisions of this Chapter and other laws. A secondary <br />dwelling shall be subordinate to and architecturally <br />compatible with the primary dwelling. The size of a <br />secondary dwelling, within a structure whose gross area <br />is 1,000 square feet or less, shall not exceed 1,000 <br />square feet, and the size of a secondary dwelling within <br />a structure whose gross area is more than 1,000 square <br />feet shall not exceed 600 square feet. <br />
