es RESOLUTION NO. 71 0 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS AUTHORIZING FORMAL APPLICATION FOR INCLUSION IN THE FEDERAL FLOOD AND MUDSLIDE INSURANCE PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the residents of the Town of Los Altos Hills have suffered substantial losses from flooding and mudslides, and, in addition, have experienced great diffi- culty in obtaining insurance protection against such losses, and WHEREAS, pursuant to the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968 as amended March 1 , 1972, the Federal Government has established a program including an Emergency Flood Insurance Program pursuant to which such insurance is made available, and WHEREAS, it is deemed in the best interests of the citizens of the Town of Los Altos Hills that such coverage be made. available at the earliest possible time, and WHEREAS, the Town of Los Altos Hills has already adopted the Uniform Building Code, 1967 Edition, Volume 1 , with its Appendices, zoning regulations and other measures to eliminate or minimize damage from future floods or mudslides, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills that: 1 . Said Council does hereby express a positive interest in the Federal Insurance program established under the 1968 Act, administered by the Department. of Housing and Urban Development. 2. Said Council does hereby express its assurance that it has enacted appropriate building codes, zoning regulations and other measures to eliminate or minimize damage from future 'floods or mudslides, and that it is willing to consider any amendments thereto which will have further beneficient effect. 3. It is hereby requested that the Town of Los Altos Hills be designated as a community eligible for the National Insurance program under which residents of the Town of Los Altos Hills may obtain insurance through either the standard or the Emergency flood insurance program. 4. The City Manager is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Federal Insurance Administrator, together with application materials as specified in Title 24, Chapters VII and X, Federal Insurance Admini- stration,Department of Housing and Urban Development. The City Manager is hereby authorized to take all necessary steps to complete such application and to provide such further information to the Federal Insurance Administration as may be required.
