RESOLUTION NO.703 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF LOS ALTOS HILLS OPPOSING <br /> THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW DUMBARTON BRIDGE PRIOR TO <br /> METROPOLITAN TRANSIT COMMISSION APPROVAL. <br /> 4 <br /> WHEREAS, the State Legislature authorized the construction of a new four-lane <br /> Dumbarton Bridge to replace the present two-lane link between the East Bay and the <br /> Peninsula, and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the duty of the Metropolitan Transit Commission to approve or <br /> disapprove the expansion of any existing bridge, without reviewing and approving <br /> the construction of a new bridge, and <br /> WHEREAS, a proper assessment of the impact of the approaches on the communities <br /> affected by the expansion of the bridge is necessary before it can be rebuilt, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transit Commission is developing a Regional Transpor- <br /> tation Plan for the Bay Area, which will make possible a thorough analysis of the <br /> effects of construction of this bridge. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town of Los Altos Hills regards review . <br /> of all Bay Area transportation as vital , and urges the State Legislature to invest <br /> the Metropolitan Transit Commission with the power of approval or disapproval over <br /> the Dumbarton Bridge construction in this 1973 Session. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the California Toll Bridge Authority be urged to <br /> withhold any further development of plans for the Dumbarton crossing until the <br /> Metropolitan Transit Commission study has been concluded, presented, and discussed. <br /> * * <br /> I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution has been duly passed and adopted <br /> by the City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills at a regular meeting of <br /> April 18, 1973, by the following roll call vote: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Davey, Grabowski , Kubby, Miller, Mayor Helgesson <br /> NOES: <br /> ABSENT: None, APPROVED: \ . <br /> Mayor, Los Altos Hills <br /> ATTEST_ - _ <br /> City Clerk <br />
