-2 - <br />Petition cont'd. <br />The City Attorney stated that the Town could not annex a road only, <br />as strip annexation is not legal. He suggested that a direct ap- <br />proach by the residents of the area to the County might do far more <br />than action by the Town. <br />Following discussion, the Mayor stated that he would appoint a com- <br />mittee, including a member of the Council, to check with the County <br />regarding the maintenance of Prospect road. <br />The City engineer and City Attorney were requested to investigate <br />the condition of La Loma Drive as to whether it meets Town stand- <br />ards for acceptance. <br />2. Fremont Hills Develo ment Com - Improvements. Deferred from <br />meeting of August 180, 1958. <br />Mr. Colin Peters and Mr. William Coldiron reported on the progress <br />being made relative to the improvements to be made by the Fremont <br />Hills Development Company. <br />Mr. Peters stated that the plans for the proposed culvert to be <br />constructed at St. Francis and West Fremont have been drawn and are <br />in the hands of the City Engineer. <br />Mr. Longmire, Engineer, stated that the plans should be approved <br />within the next few days. <br />Mr. Coldiron stated that the Tremont Hills nevelopment Company <br />would ask for as soon as the plans have been approved. He <br />mentioned the problem of traffic on 'Jest Fremont during the con- <br />struction of the culvert, <br />The matter of improvement of Concepcion =avenue was raised by the <br />City Clerk, stating that something must be done soon. He said <br />the condition of the road requires immediate attention, and sug- <br />gested temporary improvement. <br />Mr. Coldiron stated that as soon as the plans have been approved <br />for the culvert to be constructed at West Fremont and Concepcion <br />Avenue, -Mr. Freeman will begin work and will do both jobs. <br />The City Clerk reported that he had talked with Mr. Berger, and <br />walked over the Berger property. Relative to the Resolution ad- <br />dopted by the City Council September 2nd, Mr. Berger had stated <br />that he felt that $5000 would not be sufficient to cover damage to <br />his property. <br />3. Traffic Study - Reported by City Clerk. <br />a) West Fremont at Manuella and Miranda Intersections. <br />The City Clerk re,:orted that the speed limit (Vehicle Code) <br />cannot be reduced below 25 miles per hour where there is a stop <br />sign. 6igns may be installed for reduced speed, but are not <br />7 �j enforceable. <br />9-1-58 <br />
