Freeway Committee - The Va-7or announced that Mr. Alan Kinkead has <br />been appointed Chairman of she Committee and that new members of <br />the Committee are Councilman :�idney I% Treat and Planning Commis- <br />sioner Hart H. Tantau. <br />6. Adobe Creek Lodge - Councilman Bledsoe stated that after eonsulta- <br />tiion-with theLCity Attorney, he suggests that the City Attorney be <br />directed to send a letter to the owners of -.dobe Creek Lodge along <br />the lines of a draft which he presented. <br />ACTION: <br />That the City Council direct the City Attorney to send such <br />a letter to the owner of adobe Creek Lodge. <br />riOTION: Bledsoe; SECOND: Treat; VOTE: Passed unanimously <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />1. Freeway - 'eport by Chairman of the Freeway Committee - Alan Kinkead <br />Mr. Kinkead made available, for <br />ing the proposed "C" route , the <br />"BX -B" routes from lage Eill and <br />Mr. Kinkead read his report. <br />members of the audience, maps show - <br />proposed "C -b", and the <br />I astradero to Simla Junction. <br />C,uestions and comments were heard from members of the audience. <br />There were many questions asked among which were relative to where <br />the members of the Freeway Committee live, how many houses would be <br />destroyed in the "C -b" route as opposed to the "C" route, traffic <br />to and from the Freeway--comraring the two routes, commercializing <br />resulting from the 'Freeway, separation of the Town b -j the "C" route, <br />whether traffic surveys have been made in determining which route <br />would be best, and the problem of access road, frontage road, over- <br />passes and underpasses. <br />Commissioner Nellquist read the report of the rlanning Commission, <br />after which he stated that he had some personal comments to make. <br />He stated that the most efficient place for the Freeway is along <br />the railroad right of way, and that the Otate Highway Department <br />has recommended the foothill route. He pointed out five factors <br />to be considered. <br />5-1-58 <br />1. Traffic efficiency, which is user benefit - how far you can <br />go from a point on a trip.(Shorter on the railroad route). <br />The Freeway should be of service to the community and should <br />be plain for many years ahead. The area will be far better <br />served if the Freeway is situated in a heavily populated area <br />The Freeway situated near the railroad right of way may e- <br />liminate the need for an expressway with an `SEI Camino" type <br />of stoplight development. The traffic flow would be uninter- <br />rupted. <br />
