C,uestions and comments were heard from members of the audience. There were many questions asked among which were relative to where the members of the Freeway Committee live, how many houses would be destroyed in the "C -b" route as opposed to the "C" route, traffic to and from the Freeway--comraring the two routes, commercializing resulting from the 'Freeway, separation of the Town b -j the "C" route, whether traffic surveys have been made in determining which route would be best, and the problem of access road, frontage road, over- passes and underpasses. Commissioner Nellquist read the report of the rlanning Commission, after which he stated that he had some personal comments to make. He stated that the most efficient place for the Freeway is along the railroad right of way, and that the Otate Highway Department has recommended the foothill route. He pointed out five factors to be considered. 5-1-58 1. Traffic efficiency, which is user benefit - how far you can go from a point on a trip.(Shorter on the railroad route). The Freeway should be of service to the community and should be plain for many years ahead. The area will be far better served if the Freeway is situated in a heavily populated area The Freeway situated near the railroad right of way may e- liminate the need for an expressway with an `SEI Camino" type of stoplight development. The traffic flow would be uninter- rupted.
