Town Entrance Si s - The City Clerk reported that installation of <br />s ae a 'Be n, ma a at all. entrances to the Town with the exception <br />of two, and that they are expected to be installed by the end of <br />the week. <br />A complete estimate of the cost of the signs has not been made. <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />1. Proclamation for "Law Day--U.S.A." - Suggested by the American Bar <br />Association, anW submitted by the City Attorney. <br />The Proclamation was read by the Mayor. <br />ACTION: <br />That the Mayor be authorized to proclaim May lst, 1958 as <br />"Law Day--U.S.A." in the Town of Los Altos Hills, <br />MOTION: Fowle; SECOND: Hoefler; <br />VOTE: AYES: Fowle, Hoefler, Mayor Treat <br />NOES: None <br />ABSTAINED: Bledsoe <br />ABSENT: Rothwell <br />2. Freewgy- <br />Councilman Fowle requested that he have the authority to reactivate <br />the Freeway'Committee, having not over five (5) members. He gave <br />two reasons for making this request, (1) to continue working to <br />keep the Freeway out of the Hills, and (2) to act as an advisory <br />group to the Council on the negotiations as they come up from time <br />to time. <br />Councilman Fowle stated that a letter had been sent to G. T. McCoy <br />requesting a copy of his report relative to his recommendation for <br />the proposed Junipero Serra Freeway. <br />Mr. James B. Zischke, President of the Los Altos Hills Association, <br />read a letter which was addressed to the City Council regarding the <br />location of the proposed Freeway, and presented questions of im- <br />portance to be considered by residents of the Town. The pledged <br />support of the Association was also given in the letter. <br />An attached bulletin, dated March 300, 1958, was read which was <br />relative to the Freec�y and urged the townspeople to maintain a <br />united community by voting to remain incorporated. <br />46, Opinions were expressed by members of the Council. <br />Councilman Hoefler stated that action must be taken quickly and <br />that the caucus of the Council should make a firm statement of'what <br />the Town will do. <br />4-2-58 <br />
